New Sofa 1st Nov 17 at 1:04 PM
    Update 09/11/17

I would be grateful for some feedback about these sofas as well:

    http://www.ahf.co.uk/torino-3-seater-manual-recliner-sofa.html

    Original Question

I have found a new sofa that I would like to buy for my house. This is it: https://www.scs.co.uk/s/SCS/lauren-3-seater-manual-recliner-sofa/L035217.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIz5yvjred1wIVDmYbCh2 _MwzBEAQYASABEgLSp_D_BwE

The cost of the two sofas (3 seater and 2 seater) is just under: 1200. I have just spoken to the store with my negotiation head on and I have managed to secure a 10% discount and free delivery; just from an initial conversation (armed with no information).

When I negotiated a 5% discount from my house; I was armed with information relating to recent transactions from the Land Registry website. I am not really armed with any information with regards to this sofa. Should I be asking for more of a discount? The reason I ask is because I have never bought a sofa before. I want to be firm; but fair.

Does the price of this sofa look reasonable?

I remember a consumer programme on tv, where someone bought a suite from one of the previously named companies and after a few months it collapsed. The retailer claimed it was the buyer's fault as she had two teenage sons and the suite wasn't built for youngsters to sit in.

Our suite is a Frayling;one of the quality British manufacturers, but through greed they went out of business.

Workers were sacked and the furniture manufacture subcontracted to somewhere in Poland, but they had so many items badly made and needing to be shipped back or scrapped, that they had to wind up the company, as the sacked skilled workers had moved on by then.

There were some really bad faults like loose joints, chairs made from leathers which differed in colour shade and items ruined in transit, as they were not correctly wrapped. I know this because a relative was one of the last workers (retail transport) to leave.

I remember I worked in a furniture store during the Xmas holidays one year when I was at university. I was encouraged to tell customers that the Xmas sale finished on New Years eve. I went into the store on 2nd January and there was a new sale on - with even better prices in the new "sale". There appears to always be a sale.
