My diary to debt free and saving for a deposit by 35 .*updated feb 2018 - aim to be homeowners by if not hopefully before 30*

we aim to save 25k before even going to the bank for a dip

current age 25 . current financal status . trying but not trying hard enough . in debt with hardly a pot to wee in ... it has to change ... from today

we have consolidated our debts as of November so will just do an update regarding extra payments and a remaining balance every few months.

for the most part this will be my diary on saving for a deposit the highs lows and raising 3 children all currently 8yo or younger while doing it .

    So ....

My employer hasn't paid me for my notice period I worked. I could cry !

Don't know if I have a. Leg to stand on as was there less than 2 years.

I need to update tax credits on Monday.

I still haven't heard from my new employer so I've taken a few more extra shifts with the agency.

I need to be really careful this month now due to not being paid.

Off to get some more stuff done and try and relax

Have you got anything in writing e.g. an email to confirm you'd work your notice? A firm, formal letter requesting payment may do the trick, setting a deadline for payment after which you'll consult a solicitor? Might be worth popping over to the employment board for some expert advice though...

Hello beautiful people of my diary world

I have done a rough calculation in my head and providing I can get .5k for my car
By the end of November we should have achieved the following

Paid off the remaining of our debts
Have 5k in our emergency fund
Have 1000 in our house fund
    Brought the kids Xmas presents

I'm feeling happy now I know where we are at financially after a few weeks of worry

Off to bed now ... Might actually get a decent night's sleep tonight

    Hello everyone,
I hope you are all well and had a good weekend.

We went out for a meal last night for our anniversary later in the month. We had a voucher so all in including parking we spent 9 .

Working tomorrow. Tomorrow evening and Tuesday I'm going to do a skip run and eBay listing and my diploma work . Then back in work Wednesday , Friday and Sunday. Total of 38 hours this week .

I also have some work for the following week (about 36 hours) so far.

This money will go up for bills as I still don't know when I'll be starting my 'new job' I'm currently relying on agency work to see us through.

I'll put what we need away for bills and everything else will go into savings . My plan now is too have 2k in the house fund by the end of the year as well as all the debt paid off and 5k in our emergency fund.

Anything extra would be a bonus.

We have only really spent money on essentials (not including our 9 night out)

Off to bed shortly as have an early start tomorrow. Need to leave home around 6.30am

Boys are back at school tomorrow.
    Tomorrows plan
    Work
    School
    Homework
    Diploma
    eBay listing
Sort the kitchen out (deep clean and declutter)

    Tuesday's plan
    School
    Doctors
    Diploma
    eBay listing
    Skip run

    Night all

Thank you hazelnutty it was a relief definitely .

Just trying to figure my shifts for next week. Think I'm going to work most days to try and earn as much as possible. Especially with Xmas next month.

My car should be finished this week ... So as of next week I should be able to sort the debt and savings out

It definitely does. Stress is a major trigger for my bipolar so I try to keep calm about almost everything. even when my car was keyed across its two doors I just didn't react. It isn't worth my health. Finances is something that I can get quite worried about.
Along with the house deposit I'm aiming for financial security . I want to be in a place where if I'm out of work for a few months I have enough to cover our outgoings.
That's the aim anyways. If I could achieve all this (debt free, house deposit , house brought and 6-12 months of outgoings saved) before 30 I'd be over the moon.

Well done on all your work so far Mo3, I've just read through your diary. Just in case you weren't aware, you can claim tax back on washing your uniform, there's info here on MSE and I think you can back claim for about 6 years, so whilst you may have had to buy your uniform you may at least be able to claim something for washing it each week.

    Thank you everyone !
Runningkatie I have heard of it but never done it . I'll look into it .

Spent 60 at Sainsbury's today and 10 at the local shop.

Been to see my nana. And got my timesheet signed for where I worked Monday (forgot to get it signed.)

I'm knackered. Another 12 hour day at work tomorrow. So I'm going to sort the little ones out and try and chill for abit before dinner.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend
