Starting over... 15th Oct 17 at 10:13 PM
    Hi all!

It's been a while since I've used this website and forum, largely because I've been living abroad for a few years and BOY have I missed it! For the record, there's nothing remotely like MSE in Ireland and if I was much cleverer I would have loved to have started something similar.

The reason I'm rejoining the MSE clan is because in 12 weeks time (82 days to be exact) I'm moving back to Devon And while I'm really excited, I'm also extremely nervous to be starting over. I run a successful business here in Ireland that I'm hoping to bring over (but realistically it'll take at least 12 months to get to the same level - I'm a wedding singer if anyone needs one ), and the thought of being a 30-something who is going back to live with her mother is nauseating...

Financially I have no savings and 1700 on a credit card - I've put all my money into my business, so the plan is to save as much money as I possibly can before I move. I have a lot of work coming up but my day job is also self-employed so budgeting can be difficult while I wait for invoices to be paid.

I work mostly in the afternoons and evenings so I'm on the hunt for a temp morning or night time job for the next few months, but I'm also looking online for ways to earn a bit extra. I still have my UK bank account so I'm looking at doing the gambling websites using Top Cashback (I hate gambling so stopping after the minimum bet to get the cash back won't be an issue), and I write a bit in my spare time so I might try some of the task-based websites too.

Well, I think that's it for now. Wish me luck!

Enjoy the rest but boo to changes of plans. Can you work on your new business website/social media over the weekend?

I hope it all sorts itself out for you.

WTMA, I will enjoy the rest! 11 hours sleep last night, I feel like a new woman

And yes, plan for the weekend is to get cracking on the website!

I've put some more feelers out for cruise ship jobs, I can feel the seas calling me for an adventure... I'm giving myself the deadline of my birthday in April to get there before I place all my concentration on staying at home

And it's the quickest way to save money. I just have to get a job I wrote to a new company today and they immediately requested a video audition so I spent the afternoon learning music and recording me singing the songs they asked for.

This evening I've got a call planned with my aunty who lives in LA and I really need to get on with some packing!

Signature is altered, debt is still going down it's going to slow down for a while, I can only make small PADs until I'm earning again.

No packing done because my chat with my aunty lasted two and a half hours

Plans for tomorrow are to work out, see my friend, hunt for jobs again, start on the website and PACK!!

Well, last night I realised I only had re-confirmation for two of the three journey I booked for the ferries and, lo and behold, it was amended. Couldn't amend it until they opened the office this morning so I've had about 4 hours sleep easily enough done, and as soon as that new confirmation comes through I'm going back to bed for a few hours...

Confirmation came through and I managed to get another couple of hours sleep... I have to say that Irish Ferries have been nothing but wonderful with getting this sorted

Final shop for the next couple of days (and ferry snacks) is done, and I picked up a new pair of work shoes in Mr T for 3.78. I know it's silly to buy things just before moving but I know I'll use them and they are the only things I've bought in the whole January sales aside from a dress that I've already worn three times because I love it so much.

Trying to justify myself to myself. This is tragic

Both of the friends I was due to meet today have called off - both have the same chest infection I've been battling. Everyone I know seems to have it at the moment! I'm counting myself very lucky that I managed to work through it and it hasn't been too bad...

Right, I need to carry on packing, empty the car and see how much I can fit in there! I'm hoping I don't have to dismantle my chest of drawers and desk (the only furniture that's mine), fingers crossed!

Well, my car is full to the brim! Having checked out my friend's car's specs online, I don't think I'll have to dismantle anything... I'm shattered after all that lifting!

Time for a shower, small PAD, dinner, Netflix and get started on the website!

I've run out of things to do!

Sooooooo I'm binge watching Crazy Ex-Girlfriend until I fall asleep, and tomorrow I have to clean the whole flat, finish up packing and bundle everything into my friend's car when she gets here tomorrow night

Thanks all - After everything that's happened the past six months, the three-day delay felt quite cruel! But I'm finally home. I've just had my first day back in sunny Torquay, a lot of the boxes have been sorted and the by the end of tomorrow everything will have a home walking the dog today I spotted so many hotels, bars, etc that have live entertainment. I feel like I've made the right decision in coming home - the anxiety has lifted so much!

    Plans for tomorrow:

    - PAD
    - NSD
    - Sort out new fuel cap for car
    - Sort out rest of the boxes
    - Register with local doctor and dentist
    - Check bank accounts (I'm expecting at least one payment tomorrow)
    - Cancel website for Irish band
    - Contact friend who I'm going to wedding with next month
    - Figure out which Auditions I'm going to over the next month and sort diary
    - Get my 10k steps in

Looking forward to my bed tonight!

Thanks WTMA and Uncanny! It feels great to be back!

    - PAD Done
    - NSD Done
    - Sort out new fuel cap for car Done
    - Sort out rest of the boxes Done!
    - Register with local doctor and dentist Done
    - Check bank accounts (I'm expecting at least one payment tomorrow) Done
    - Cancel website for Irish band Waiting on rest of band to decide what to do
    - Contact friend who I'm going to wedding with next month Done, he can't go now...
    - Figure out which Auditions I'm going to over the next month and sort diary Done
    - Get my 10k steps in Done, and I still have to walk the dog

There's quite a lot of my and mum's stuff that has to go into storage, luckily our old next door neighbour has a garage where we can store everything for a couple of months. She's refusing to take money so we're going to come up with a nice gift for her. It's all heading up to her's on Friday so we have a couple more days of clutter but we'll manage!

Doctor and dentist are both sorted, although there's only one dentist in the whole of Devon taking on NHS patients atm and it's an hour away beggars can't be choosers though, and I've had an issue with my jaw since October that needs sorting.

The payment I'm waiting on is from Idiot Boy - I sent him over money for fuel when he was going to help me move; he said he sent it back over the weekend from his account (Lloyds) to mine (HSBC) - no sign yet. If it hasn't arrived by tomorrow I'll contact him again.

Auditions are sorted - now I have to learn and practice songs! And stop eating chocolate...

I took myself on a little walk by the beach today at sunset. I'm trying to do something just for myself every day as a bit of self care.

    Plans for tomorrow:

    - PAD
    - Get my hair done for my friend's FB page
    - Start looking at music for audition next week
    - Update finances from last few days
    - Car MOT
    - Head out with a friend for dinner and drinks - is it a date? Is it not? I have no idea!
