Packaging and Use of Courier for Delivery 15th Sep 17 at 2:11 PM
    Hi All,

Some advice please. We have a business selling baby shower/maternity gifts. A large part of this is selling nappy cakes. We've been running this as collection only, local delivery by us so far, but wondering what the scope was for increasing this to using couriers to deliver nationwide. I've seen websites delivering using couriers, but with the delicate nature of the product, this worries us as we don't want bad customer feedback, which is currently excellent. On the other side of this we want to expand the business if possible.

So, anyone out there who does this already who would like to help us out with how they package it and how they arrange a courier and who they use would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks.

A stout cardboard box and plenty of bubble wrap/polystyrene peanuts should give adequate protection, but packaging + courier costs doesn't come cheap. Hermes has good prices and you can either drop off at a local ParcelShop or they will collect:

It's worth having a look at the very many nappy cakes and similar items on ebay to get an idea of the prices they are selling for, to check you will remain competitive if you have to add postage and packaging costs on top of your usual price.
