    So this is me holding myself accountable, publicly, albeit anonymously, for my spending.

    To be fair I'm not so bad, sort of, ish.

    DH on the other hand has issues!!

    Why am I doing a Diary? Well it all came to a head when DH spent his entire wage (1500) within a week of being paid. Of course a portion of this went to bills etc. But equally a lot was wasted on games for his playstation.

    It's frustrating because between us we bring in over 3k a month and literally have nothing at the end of it. I'm sick of it.

    So I've took on this challenge. I will do my utmost to rein DH in and fully intend to get us out of this debt.

    My intention is to tackle the different debt one at time.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I'm going to list our current debt.... GULP
    Outstanding on Mortgage - 84451
    Credit Card 1 - 2803.37 - interest free for 2 yrs
    Credit Card 2 - 1490 - interest free for 2 yrs
    Hitachi finance (for new Boiler) 3093 (includes interest)
    Littlewoods 518 (includes interest)
    Next 444
    Newlook (DH has no idea about this eeek) 130
    Loan 1 - 10865
    Loan 2 - 5964
    My overdraft currently stands at 150
    Dh's overdraft 700
    DH got a loan out last October - not sure what is outstanding on that so I'll have to update on that later.
    I do know that it's 155.12 a month payment.
    DH also has finance on a bicycle - again I need to get the outstanding on that
    Finance for a new TV - he got this against my advice - total amount was 899 - obtained earlier this yr - need the outstanding
    AND - he's recently took up a hobby that's resulted in the purchase, finance, for some items - again need to total figure on that one.
    See - he likes to buy things
    Without knowing DH's total outstanding I've totted up known figures.
    So including the mortgage we owe at least 110,608.37
    I also have a student loan that's 150 out of my wage every month. I believe I'm due my yearly statement this month so I can see what is outstanding hopefully. With 2 lots of Mat leave in the last 5 years it's taken longer to pay off. I'm hoping that I'm nearing the end though as that would be a huge help once gone.
    I do have some good habits!
    I overpay on our Mortgage. I think it's a monthly overpayment of around 120. I'll have to double check. Been doing that for years although previously the overpayments were more I the region of 75.
    I think initially I will concentrate efforts on overpaying the Hitachi finance and the Littlewoods account. Luckily with the Littlewoods account that is a buy now pay later (expires Jan) and I'm well on course to pay that off in time.
    With the Hitachi finance I currently pay just under 72 a month. I was the shittiest deal ever. However, it was Dec 2012. Our ancient boiler died. I was on mat leave. We needed a new boiler and in desperation took up the worst ever deal from British Gas. Ugh - shameful. I then just let it run it's course. I don't have figures at hand but I believe it was an 8 year deal and a disgusting interest rate.
    I logged into the account yesterday and found that it ends in Dec 2020. If I make just 18 a month overpayment it could end in Jan 2020!! I'm unbelievable peeved at myself for not concentrating on getting rid of this sooner. So that is my main goal!
    I aim to update at least once a week.
    Pay Day
    36 weeks pregnant today! Can't believe my body has managed this far with two on board!
    Had a mini scare last Monday though. Had a consultant appointment and scan and everything went fine. The afterwards blood pressure and urine check only to find BP was high and protein in urine....this resulted in hours in Maternity triage on the monitor. Thankfully BP came down and blood results ruled out Pre Eclampsia so I was allowed home. I was not mentally prepared for an early delivery!
    However, I have now been given a date for induction - 22nd June.. as long as they don't decide to come early. I'm both apprehensive and excited.
    Totals as of 15th June
    Lloyds CC 5413.09
    M&S Loan 6514.56
    Littlewoods 107.99 25 paid off
    Next 51.52 25 paid off
    Total debt as of 6th of June 30608.63
    And then there were 6 of us!
    We welcomed our twins on Friday the 22nd. Planned induction and in the end it all happened very quickly.
    Beautiful weights
    twin 1 was 6lb15
    twin 2 was 6lb7
    Not bad for 37 week gestation...I mean in all seriousness they were on course to being bigger than my singletons. I'm amazed at my body.
    Breastfeeding successfully at the moment..although in a heck of a lot of pain. The both have quite bad tongue ties and I'm waiting for the referral for them to be snipped. I received so much praise in hospital for Breastfeeding them. Other than the obvious benefits...it's free ...so why wouldn't I do this?
    It is hard work with two newborns I won't lie. I'm dreading DH going back to work, but things are getting easier each day so fingers crossed I'll be in some sort of routine by then.
    Wooohooo congratulations.
    You are an awesome super Mum.
    I worked out the additional amount of time breastfeeding compared to formula feeding would give me on Mat leave, that was motivation.
    Tongue tie... grrrrr there should be a midwife on every ward who just does it there and then, no referrals required.
    July targets
    The twins are just over 2 weeks old now. I think we've settled into a routine of sorts. They're sleeping better which is a bonus...but I still keep waking to check they're breathing so I'm not really benefiting!
    DH is back at work now and so this is the real test!
    Got my appointment through for the twins tongue tie revision and it's not until the 25th of July! I will make it until then but honestly it's of no surprise that so many mothers quit breastfeeding due to the pain.
    DH now gets paid on the 8th of each month and so I will work the budgets from the 8th-8th each month.
    trying to get my diary bug back
    I've had some time today to catch up reading some diaries that I'm subscribed to. I find it so inspiring and gives me motivation. It's led me back on my diary for a second time today for some ramblings!
    This year will be tough on the debt busting front due to being on Mat leave but I do relish the challenge of it. Hoping to get to sub 25k by the end of 2018.
    The plan next year will be to get cracking with doing up the house as we will be looking to move in a couple of years. A 3 bedroomed house isn't going to cut it any longer!
    DH has finally decluttered a lot of his 'things' at the back end of last week. It's took YEARS of me moaning. You see he's a hoarder. I used to sneakily bin things of his and he'd never notice but if I mentioned to him to get rid of the boxes of cables and crap he's refuse. He had a huge shed full of pointless things.
    Well I'm proud of him because he was ruthless and took so much to the tip. None of it was sellable. They were literally random bags of crap! He can actually see his motorbike now and there is floor space in the shed
    I also decluttered the kids toy boxes and managed to fill up 3 black bags and a large cardboard box full if old broken toys. The kids have yet to notice!! Result.
    ***********
    Going to have another go at sticking to the grocery budget this month.
    From the 8th to the 8th it'll be a 250 budget...once the twins start eating food around Xmas time I'll look into increasing it slightly.
    On Saturday I did my weekly shop and spent 61.96 at Adl1. I m know it's only Monday now but I reckon I won't need to do a top up shop at all this week. That'll be unheard of for me in a loooong time. The success of this is due to actually writing up a meal plan for this week and getting what I actually need instead of random things without a clue on what meals we'll be having. I've also looked in my freezer and cupboards to use what we have!
    In recent weeks we've managed to use up quite a bit from our freezer to allow me to defrost and clear out one of them. Now that it's empty I'm going to look at buying from muscle food and getting a large supply of meat products.
    So.... 61.96/250
    *******
    Another thing I'm going to look at is my health. I eventually. ..no rush....want to get back running. I'm so unfit for obvious reasons. Carrying twins did not lend itself to keeping fit, I could barely breathe Well anyway I've decided to aim for around 10k steps a day as a starting point. I hadn't stuck to that in the first section of July so my total July target will be less than the 310,000.
    I'm therefore setting my target to 290,000
    So far, up to yesterday, I'm at 64,917 steps.
    64,917/290,000 steps
    Right, off to continue reading diaries!
    Today has been the most trying day so far since the twins were born and it's not been because of the twins!
    DD has woken with a sickness bug...there's been a lot of washing happneing today.It's made the school run a little difficult as a result. I've had to use the car today for the first time in ages. In order to save money on fuel consumption and to up my fitness I'd been walking most places. Obviously there was no way I was going to make DD walk the school run with a risk if vomiting. Dreading tonight now. I'm hoping she's done with the sick now.
    *******
    Had a letter through from the Student Loans Company. Letting me know that I'm due to finish paying it this financial year and to consider switching to DD. I'll call them tomorrow I think. My only issue is that between Dec and June next year I'll either be on stat mat pay or no pay and wouldn't be able to afford a DD payment during those months. I also can't afford to make HUGE payments over the next 6 months either as I'm still putting money away each month to cover the deficit for Dec- June. I'll see what they suggest when I call.
    Be that as it may .I'm so excited to know it's nearly paid and I'll have extra money each pay for savings and debt payment.
    I would think, in your circumstances, just let it roll on on the wage deduction route until you return to work. Then ring them up and see what the balance is and whether you want to switch to dd payments at that point.
    Pay day yesterday so managed to make my monthly payment to the BC. Love seeing this reduce by huge chunks each months. Also looking forward to snowballing that onto the Lloyds card once the BC is paid. Although the 0% deal on the Lloyds ends in Jan 19 so will be looking for a balance transfer at the end of the year.
    Yesterday was also the official dye date for the twins. ..however, they're 3 weeks old now. Wow its gone quickly.
    DD is proving to be VERY challenging at the moment. She's 2 1/2 yes old and I have to constantly remind myself that it's a difficult age anyway never mind coming to terms with no longer being the baby of the family and sharing attention. Thankfully she's great with the twins it's must me and DH that she pushes all the buttons with.
    Today was the day when I discovered what the most stress inducing task was.
    And it's trying to get urine samples from 3 1/2 week old twins and getting them to the hospital within 2 hours of obtaining the samples.
    Well it's no easy feat let me tell you...these twins do not wee in sync
    After just over 90 mins or sitting there with a little cup by their bits twin 1 pooped into it . Whilst cleaning her up she wee'd therefore meaning I lost the chance to get the sample!
    20 mins later twin 2 gave me a wee sample.
    That meant I had about an hour to get twin 1s sample, get everyone ready and get them to hospital. ...90 mins later and twin 1 had not done another wee. So I had to get rid of twin 2s sample
    I was on the verge of giving up. Then 30 mins later twin 1 did a wee. .followed by twin 2 10 minutes after. Thank goodness.
    All this with a toddler demanding my attention, wanting feeding and literally causing mass destruction of the house knowing I couldn't stop her!
    This was all in aid of a jaundice screening.
    If they get back to me to say they need more samples they can sod off!
    Right now onto the MSE stuff.
    Couple of DDS came out today for the loans so figures adjusted below.
    Been keeping my eye on the Am4zon Prime sales for Xmas pressies using my Xmas savings so far. Only bought one thing for DD. Not been overly impressed with what's been on offer so far. Seemed much better last year.
    Goodness you deserve a medal for coping with newborn twins plus a 2 and a half year old toddler. I have spent the day with my DD who has a 3 month old and is toilet training the almost 3 year old. Getting a urine sample to diagnose jaundice sounds weird. Usually they can tell from colours of whites of eyes and skin.
    The twins do have a mild yellow tinge. They had bloods taken last Friday and they also needed urine samples. The urine sample is to check for any other infection that could cause jaundice like appearance.
    I've heard nothing back from the hospital re. the bloods or urine so I'm taking that as a positive.
    I'm also semi potty training the 2 1/2 yr old. ..going full hog with it in summer holidays when I don't have to do a school run and worry about accidents
    My son had to give a urine sample many years ago when he was a baby , the nurse gave me a little adhesive bag to stick around that area
    May be worth mentioning if you need to a repeat test
