    So this is me holding myself accountable, publicly, albeit anonymously, for my spending.

    To be fair I'm not so bad, sort of, ish.

    DH on the other hand has issues!!

    Why am I doing a Diary? Well it all came to a head when DH spent his entire wage (1500) within a week of being paid. Of course a portion of this went to bills etc. But equally a lot was wasted on games for his playstation.

    It's frustrating because between us we bring in over 3k a month and literally have nothing at the end of it. I'm sick of it.

    So I've took on this challenge. I will do my utmost to rein DH in and fully intend to get us out of this debt.

    My intention is to tackle the different debt one at time.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I'm going to list our current debt.... GULP
    Outstanding on Mortgage - 84451
    Credit Card 1 - 2803.37 - interest free for 2 yrs
    Credit Card 2 - 1490 - interest free for 2 yrs
    Hitachi finance (for new Boiler) 3093 (includes interest)
    Littlewoods 518 (includes interest)
    Next 444
    Newlook (DH has no idea about this eeek) 130
    Loan 1 - 10865
    Loan 2 - 5964
    My overdraft currently stands at 150
    Dh's overdraft 700
    DH got a loan out last October - not sure what is outstanding on that so I'll have to update on that later.
    I do know that it's 155.12 a month payment.
    DH also has finance on a bicycle - again I need to get the outstanding on that
    Finance for a new TV - he got this against my advice - total amount was 899 - obtained earlier this yr - need the outstanding
    AND - he's recently took up a hobby that's resulted in the purchase, finance, for some items - again need to total figure on that one.
    See - he likes to buy things
    Without knowing DH's total outstanding I've totted up known figures.
    So including the mortgage we owe at least 110,608.37
    I also have a student loan that's 150 out of my wage every month. I believe I'm due my yearly statement this month so I can see what is outstanding hopefully. With 2 lots of Mat leave in the last 5 years it's taken longer to pay off. I'm hoping that I'm nearing the end though as that would be a huge help once gone.
    I do have some good habits!
    I overpay on our Mortgage. I think it's a monthly overpayment of around 120. I'll have to double check. Been doing that for years although previously the overpayments were more I the region of 75.
    I think initially I will concentrate efforts on overpaying the Hitachi finance and the Littlewoods account. Luckily with the Littlewoods account that is a buy now pay later (expires Jan) and I'm well on course to pay that off in time.
    With the Hitachi finance I currently pay just under 72 a month. I was the shittiest deal ever. However, it was Dec 2012. Our ancient boiler died. I was on mat leave. We needed a new boiler and in desperation took up the worst ever deal from British Gas. Ugh - shameful. I then just let it run it's course. I don't have figures at hand but I believe it was an 8 year deal and a disgusting interest rate.
    I logged into the account yesterday and found that it ends in Dec 2020. If I make just 18 a month overpayment it could end in Jan 2020!! I'm unbelievable peeved at myself for not concentrating on getting rid of this sooner. So that is my main goal!
    I aim to update at least once a week.
    Today has been my only day off this week. Had loads planned! Of course my body and the weather have conspired against me so I've not achieved all that I'd hoped.
    Having said that, with the help of my youngest, I've washed my car. The inside is still a tip though
    The food budget thing has not gone too well either, hoping to pull this back.
    Currently it's 123.64/250. So not a lot to last until May 15th!! Ooops
    On another note. I've realised with this lovely weather that it may not be always best to baby wear the twins as it could get a bit hot. So I've looked into getting carrycots and adaptors for my pram. Although they can go in the pram from birth I'm not fully comfortable with them facing away.
    The carrycots direct from the company are 130 each
    I've managed to find one carrycot for sale on FB with an adaptor for 60, I'd got it down from 70. So just need to source one more, hopefully for a similar price. Will be collecting it on Sunday.
    Did my weekly shop at Ald1 today and although the baby event was on I resisted buying things for the sake of it. Just being very realistic on what I need and not what I'm made to think I need.
    Not much movement on debts at the moment. Just waiting on DH to get paid and then more will be coming out.
    Hey diary,
    been absent for just over a week. Combination of work and being utterly exhausted all the time so just trying to grab sleep when I can.
    29 weeks pregnant and had the toughest week of being pregnant since the sickness stopped at 14 weeks. The bump is huge, bigger than it ever got when pregnant with my singletons, it's taking a lot out of me. I've had to admit defeat with work and not do any more overtime and look into reducing my hours. Only 7 weeks left in work if I don't decide to finish earlier.
    Had my scan this week. Babies measuring good weights, but have to go back on the 8th of May for another scan. The novelty of regular scans has worn off somewhat now.
    Was able to source another carry cot, this time for 69 and a double carrycot adapter for 18. So the total cost has been 147, whereas getting them new would've set me back in the region of 290
    DH got paid yesterday so his loan has come out.
    Got another PA payout, not quite the 25 I normally aim for but 23.20 so not far off. It's been a good month with PA.
    End of the month
    Can't believe it's the end of April. Ever closer to my due date.
    Keep getting scared about that fact. How will I cope as a mum of 4? How will the finances hold up?
    Almost every day I'm writing in my bullet journal, go over numbers. Incomings, outgoings, savings,projections etc.I keep staring at it all as if in hope that I've miscalculated and in fact I've underestimated in the incomings
    Anyway, last day of the month and have a few final payments to add to the list.
    May targets
    First of the month which means I reset my targets to be achieved.
    It's weird I actually had my LBM in May last year, not sure when in May though, I think it was towards the end. It's gone so quick.
    Then in June I started this diary. It's been slow going with hiccups and shocks along the way but at least we have less debt than a year ago!
    Almost 2 weeks into the month and I've not really updated.
    This has been partly because the first two weeks of the month are generally the quietest when it comes to debt busting - but also I've been feeling so run down and tired that I've barely wanted to do anything let alone update my diary.
    The twins are doing well. Currently 31 weeks. Latest growth scan showed that they've grown considerably and are now estimated as being 3lb9 each!! No wonder I'm drained!
    I really am starting to worry about their arrival. I know I will cope, but I do panic that I won't.
    I've cashed out on the Yougov 50 - just waiting for it to land in my account. Can take up to 4 weeks but it would be nice to get that in my account by the end of the month. Regardless, I've included it in my figures.
    Payday has come along and so I can update my figures and see the debt going down again
    Totals as of 16th May
    Lloyds CC 5483.11
    MBNA CC 4123.15
    Barclaycard CC 1172.64 180 paid off
    Next 76.52 20 paid off
    Total debt as of 1st May 31553.27
    Total debt as of 16th May 30959.78
    Next month looks like we'll get below the 30k debt, owe less than 1k on the BC etc. The TV finance will no longer exist - the twins might be born (eeek). No but seriously it's a huge psychological boost seeing the numbers go down. I'm particularly excited to not see the number 3 at the beginning of the overall debt that's for sure.
    Getting close to getting under 30k.
    Hope your DH back problems are being held at bay and you get an answer after the scan. My brother was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (relapsing and remitting) about 2 years ago now. Still managing to work and play golf too due to drugs he takes. Hopefully it is not that but if it is there are ways it can be managed.
    Good you managed to get some bargains for the twins re carrycots etc. My DGD2 is 3 weeks old now and very laid back, completely unlike DGD1 to my DDs relief. Hopefully your twins will be nice easy babies.
    the closer I'm getting to their arrival the more scared I'm becoming at the thought of coping. I've resigned myself to the fact that I may not remember the next 12 months!
    Just a couple of thoughts mummy-bear.
    Do you have a 'home start' in your area. I'm not entirely sure if it's a local authority/ nhs thing or a charity, but they provide parenting support to families for a few hours each week. Sometimes it's for people who are struggling at parenting, but my friend got 18months worth of support because she had twins. Just an extra pair of hands. In our area the local sling swing class (a dance class where baby goes in the sling while you safely have a boogie) allows twin parents to bring someone else for free if you don't want to tandem wear the babies.
    Also local colleges may need placement families for childcare students worth enquiringly about.
    Have a good day
    Wish.
    The 100 payment countdown (each payment = 400) 2018 Starts at 13/100 o/s 34,750.
    I'm exhausted. No amount of sleep is helping. The heat is killing me too! Nearly 34 weeks pregnant and still going to work!! I seriously need to rethink this as it's getting harder to remain focused and motivated. But my replacement is only starting today and I have to train him!
    not got time to do a full update at the moment so some figures are out of date - will try to update further later.
    List 10 items on Selling sites 3/10
    I've got 3 things on sale now. Will try and get more up this weekend.
    Earn 80 payable from survey sites 50/80
    The 50 from Yougov dropped into my account. Promptly been used to buy baby bath supports and other little bits for the Twins.
    Been slacking on the survey front though in general
    VO is now up to 6.10
    PA currently has 8.42 payable and 3.85 pending.
    Onepoll currently has 16.15 in there.
    Yougov currently has 300 points in there.
    E.Rewards currently has 3775 points in there.
    Qmee has 6.94 in there
    Reduce debt by 850 944.64/ 850
    I've given up my compost fund - it's taking forever to reach. I'm going to assess whether I can pay it outright without having to save.
    Food budget looks like this 57/250.
    Really hoping to keep to the food budget this month and intend to raid the freezers and eat more of what we actually have in
    New Month & 1 year debt busting
    I've come to accept that I will not be able to update this diary as much as I'd like. Be that as it may debt busting is at the forefront of our minds always so that is all good.
    I've finally finished work. Consultant basically told me to stop. My feet are swollen and I've developed Obstetric Cholestasis. I'm on meds for that but the itching is still constant
    Regular weekly blood tests and talks of induction around 37 weeks. I'm 34+5 weeks today! Scary thought.
    Anyway This diary is now a year old. In some ways it's sad because had circumstances been different we would've chipped a bigger chunk off the debt than what we actually have. However, on a positive, we do have less debt than a year ago regardless.
    6531.23/37139.86 17.58% paid
    I'm excited for what the next 12 months have in store. The next 12 months will be strictly budgeted due to me being on Maternity Leave but I love the idea of the challenge to maybe get 10k off our debt in that time. To get in the region of 20k outstanding debt by my 2 year anniversary would be fantastic... as long as there are no other hiccups along the way!!!
    Monthly Challenge
    This month I'm taking a back seat on this as I won't have time. I'm probably having the twins this month so not putting pressure on myself in these challenges.
