Buying a house in Sylhet, Bangladesh

Buying a house in Sylhet, Bangladesh 18th Mar 17 at 1:30 PM
    Hi All,

I'd like to know how much the average 4/5 bedroom house in Sylhet, Bangladesh would cost to purchase.

I've heard they can be a similar price to the properties in the south east of England.
I'd also like to know how much it would cost to build a similar sized property over there too.

    Thank you for any replies.

    Have a great weekend.

    Regards

    Andrew

Not a deal breaker. Assuming you weren't on said plan of course...

No joke Andrew, I'm of bangladeshi heritage and my parents are from sylhet with property out there. My dad's abroad at the moment. I'll ask him and get back to you. Yes the thread is humorous, but also kind of peed me off even though this forum wouldn't have an obvious clue, you still found a link like me...

Anyway, why are you looking to buy / build a house in B'desh?

Taking the place of Crashy, but in reverse, I would add that Sylhet is one of the better bits of Bangladesh, especially the areas not much above sea level.

Given that sea levels generally are on the rise and Bangladesh is heavily populated, it's fairly obvious that Sylhet will be a better place to invest in property than somewhere which is likely to become an Asian version of the Dogger Bank.

Her family aren't too sure about property prices and she isn't really in touch with her family in Bangladesh.

Property price depends on location as like anywhere in the world.
Sylhet is a division, a district and also a town.
If you like to buy house or land in or closer to town the price is the highest.
My family has a single storey 5 bed house in Sylhet town, in a residential area, probably worth £200,000.

Yes, capital gain tax. 20% to 30% resident and non resident rate.

Don't you think the cat will be out of the bag with her family when you buy a property together, or do you plan on keeping that secret too?
