    Get a grip ! 5th Feb 17 at 11:27 AM
Message to self ... get a grip ! Stop moaning about your job and do something about it. Reduce your outgoings so you can leave your job ! Save money so you can leave your job ! Downsize the house so you can leave your job !

Ok so I am mid-40's divorced with DS 21 still at home. He pays half of the bills and his own food (high protein diet).

I hate my job (in case you hadn't guessed lol) and would like to leave but at the moment it gives me financial security and lots of adaptations for my disabilities which put me off / makes me worry about getting a new job. I am not sure what the future will bring (at some point DS will leave home ...hopefully !) but I really need to get some savings in place.

    So here goes........

Good luck with pet insurance claim.

I can't believe people pinch milk from the fridge.

Am glad its Friday too SW. Have ordered indian for delivery may have to raid the xmas fund but I am so tired I cant be bothered to cook.

I got an email confirming my 15 amazon voucher today may use it to start looking for xmas stocking fillers at the end of September for DS.

Its turned very cold in the evenings & mornings. Haven't had my heating on yet though.

I put petrol in the car today, I was just going to put 10 in but put in 10 for next week as well to save going again all from budget now 30 / 40.

DS gets paid tomorrow so once he has paid me for food and bills I will pay my credit card and work out my budget for the rest of the month.

Yesterday was a NSD. Apart from 2 puppy walks I managed to wash down the walls and skirtings in the puppy room which were looking a bit grubby, hoovered upstairs and tidied & dusted my bedroom. One load of work clothes washed and dried outside. I also did some batch cooking with mince, a big pan of chilli and meatballs in tomato sauce for some freezer meals for DS. I had the offer of going to a party last night but turned it down, I didn't feel up to it, especially as the group of people are big drinkers and very loud, think I'm past all that now.. too old !

I got an email from toby for 50% off mains so I am going to invite a friend to come with me for a cheap meal. A bit more sedate now I'm getting on a bit

DS and his gf stayed over last night. They are both on night shift tonight so I will probably cook us all a dinner later before they go. I think I will walk down the coop later and get a chicken and do a roast. I have potatoes and veg.

Yum to the roast. I am noticing the cold too. I will not turn heating on till November as I spent too much on last year's winter.

Its been a lovely sunny day here and I managed to get towels washed this afternoon after work and dried on the line.

DS has paid his rent so I have paid my credit cards. The non-0% card bill has been paid in full (the vet bill will be on next months bill and hopefully the insurance will have paid out by then.) and 50 to the 0% card. I will update my signature once the payment has cleared.

DS had some good news he has got his dream job that he has wanted to do since leaving school after many disappointments and a lot of hard work However he will be taking a 4k paycut so I have been helping him with budgeting and using this site he has moved his credit card balance to a longer 0% credit card. He will have less money for socialising which will be hard for him at 23 but we all have to make sacrifices.

I made a pasta bake this afternoon and have had some for my dinner, DS will take the rest to work on night shift. I did however spend 3.45 in the shop on a tuna sandwich, crisps and cup of tea as I forgot my coffee mate Spending on food at work / takeaways is getting out of hand so I need to curb my spending as it means less savings. Must be more organised !

Fabulous news on DS's dream job. Im glad he is doing what he likes and i hope he has an increase in salary v soon. If he learns to cut back (and I can't think of a better teacher) he will do v well in life!!!!

Well done on home cooking. I realise I have been cutting back on this and relying on takeaways so I will start this too. It's getting dark early now. Time to think about Christmas. yikes..... Have a good day tomorrow.

Warm day today. Was glad when work was over. Took puppy for a run around the park in the sun... she was the one doing the running

Had fish and chips from freezer for lunch from 5 meal deal bought the other week from co-op. Had a snooze this afternoon as I didn't sleep well last night. I think it was the wind howling outside and I feel like I'm coming down with a lurgy. Took a couple of paracetamol then felt better and walked dog a second time over on the common this evening. The council have been and cut down a lot of the long grass and brambles so lots of new paths are opened up so puppy enjoyed sniffing around

I have checked online banking and current savings
    Emergency fund 100 / 500
    Bills account 40
    Christmas/birthdays 250

Not where I wanted to be, but life happens and due to current circumstances I have not saved what I had hoped. Lots of house maintenance this year and other unforeseen expenses but I am not going to worry about it. As long as we have a roof over our heads and we are not struggling to pay bills or buy food I will be grateful.

Feeling under the weather today got a bug I think. Taking paracetamol and going to have a fish pie from freezer in a minute as not feeling up to cooking. DF is also unwell and is going to phone his Dr in the morning. Difficult not to worry about him but will try and get some sleep tonight. Credit card payment has come off the balance so I have updated my signature. 1 load of washing dried in the blustery wind this afternoon.

Oh dear, lurgy is going round where I live too. I'm just trying not to breathe the same air as other people, but it's a bit difficult on buses and in an office :/

Well done on the credit card!
I work in Pensions and I'm currently saving for my first house deposit
