    Debt Demolisher

Debt Demolisher 28th Jan 17 at 4:51 PM
    Hi MSE ers

Have plucked up the courage to admit that I cannot cope financially.

Long story short. We are £82,590 in Credit card and Loan debt basically spent on nothing but shopping, holidays, clothes and household things.

We are not in arrears or any CCJs at present but fear this will not last.

I completed the step change debt remedy tool thing today and it advised me to ring them on Monday Petrified at the thought of phone calls, bailiffs at my door and threatening letters etc. I don't even know what to expect about the process etc.

What do I have to show for it all NOTHING

So angry with myself but I do feel a little easier as it seems I have woken up and am willing to face it all, pay it all off and remove a lot of the stress I have every month.

Myself and My OH both work and are both willing to pull together to sort this sorry mess out. I am hoping that keeping a diary and soaking up some excellent tips and advice will see us through to the end.

I have seen some excellent advice and encouragement given on here and have thoroughly enjoyed reading all of the advice and diaries.

One day I will be advising others (I hope)

    Please be gentle with me
    M

Thanks debtaghh my healthy eating is still going ok. Can't say I haven't been tempted to eat junk but I need to stay on the wagon so to speak lol.

Yay payday and I've made some more payments

Have now moved into the next thousand down. Not a massive deal but another step closer for us. Little things like this give me a boost. Only 2 more payments on our short term goal too. Then this money will be added elsewhere and speed things up a little. It won't make a huge difference but a difference at least.

Back to work and more rain but I'm happy right now so that's a good thing.

    Evening all

Back to work and it's been manic. The year 11 students are like at the moment. Their behaviour is atrocious. I think it's mainly down to the amount of stress on them as their GCSEs are fast approaching. I actually feel sorry for them as the pressure from every angle is enormous. They are also worried about the move onto post 16 education.

They see us as a bit of a safety net and it's better the devil you know. They will be fine I'm sure as every year it's the same scenario. It's hard not to get attached to a lot of them as ive seen them grow from the age of 11 and very innocent and shy. My how things change

I'm still positive this end and still on the healthy eating wagon. The wheels haven't fallen off yet

Debt wise we're still plodding. So it's onwards and downwards with the debt

    Hope everyone is well

Great news on the weight loss and debt busting.

Moisturiser: I use Bio oil, which I thought was a bit on the expensive side when I bought it but it goes down very slowly so a 'large' bottle costing about £18 last autumn is still 3/4 full. I use it about half the time as a night time moisturiser, or of the weather's going to be hard on my skin I use it under daytime moisturiser as well. You'd need something with SPF as well but it's really helped my skin which gets dry and had decided to start looking older without my permission.

Wow I've just realised how long since I've updated my diary

Been sooooo busy it's unreal work and Home life have been hectic to say the least. Had an MOT at the GP and he flagged up an issue with a mammogram result Off to hospital today for further investigation. Please God it's nothing sinister. Will think positively and fingers crossed I will be smiling when I return. Had an issue a few years back and all ended well so that's a bonus.

A whole week off now so a nice chill out time for me. No chance of sitting in the garden it's thundering and lightening.

Debt wise we're still chugging along, slowly growing forwards instead of backwards at least.

Need to update figures although I doubt it will make too much difference to our totals.

Will update on how I get on today

I survived. I've been pushed, pulled and prodded all afternoon all ended with a lovely biopsy Absolutely shattered now. Need to return next week for results but mustn't panic in the mean time (she says)

Anyway we still have rubbish weather, raining but very muggy.
I plan to do nothing now for the rest of the evening. Have a cuppa and the TV remote. Been looking for something decent to watch but am struggling.

Thanks cherry. I have faith in them too and according to the nurse, if there is anything dodgy it is very very early so that helps ease my mind. I forgot about it until I went to get out of bed and was like Very sore but will soldier on.

Made an small overpayment today to cheer myself up lol

Weather looks a bit more promising today at least

    Hi all

    Just realised I hadn't updated.

    My tests were all clear

Well there is something but nothing to worry about. Phew!!!!

I'll be honest and say that my debt busting head went awol for a while whilst I convinced myself my life was over due to the scare
Anyway thank heavens it was all ok and now I can get back on track. Payday Friday so I will at least be a little less in debt than I was on Thursday

Will update figures as soon as my payments are all sorted

    Hope everyone is well

Feeling positive again today. Still a loooong way from the finish line but have made monthly payments and this gives me a boost. We are now in the next £1,000 down. Little things that mean so much

Need to keep the positivity going but it's so hard sometimes. One bonus is if we hadn't decided to bite the bullet and start to clear this mess up our debt total would've definitely gone up not down. I have to keep reminding myself of this.

Aim to make a couple of overpayments through the month as this also boosts my mood and keeps me on track.

Must do a food shop over the weekend but certainly need to write a list and stick to it like glue. I plan to only transfer what I need on to my top up debit card and this way I won't/can't/shouldn't/mustn't be tempted to overdo it.
