    It turns out that it's not 100s cheaper at all. With insurance2go added instead of Applecare+ it's 87 cheaper. Applecare Plus should still be the preferred option because accidental damage is dealt with in person at an Apple Store. But for an independent mobile phone insurance policy their claims procedure needs to be followed and if blurb on that subject is to be believed they are unlikely to pay out regardless of which insurance company the policy is with.

    For loss or theft the iPhone can be added to a home contents policy as a valuable item both in and out of the home. Some home contents insurance policies including mine already includes valuables insurance which can be extended.

    Overall a misleading article with an even more misleading title!

    You can get the same deal without applecare+

    works out cheaper, which will distort the comparison in Apple's favour
