Part 12. I have now been limping around these forums for the best part of a decade. I cleared it all, it all came back. It was nearly gone again, and it's grown almost to the max again. Somehow nearing that 16k debt figure always signals a change in the winds, something happens to make our finances go in a better direction for a few months, but then we hit a bump, fall off the wagon, down a cliff and into the deep dark sea. As well as a few maternity leaves and redundancy the biggest bump these last few years has been NIMs depression, where we can have no wages coming into the house for months on end, but also no ability to contribute in other ways so that I can work or even so I can do some home based money making.

While the depression isn't in the best place right now, we are both committed to making it work as best we can, and my diary has always helped me, with the support and chatter of my amazing threadies. So, time to work out where we stand, and fill you in on what we plan to do about it.

I've accepted giving up my Sunday evening for more aerial students, I make 116 for each class I teach, so if I run an extra for the 5 weeks in January then that's 700 or so more off my debt, and I can filter them into my regular week classes once the new year rush is over.

Sounds like the classes are proving really popular, hopefully most people will stick at it. Lovely to hear you so positive!

fudged that one a bit, managed to set my course price as 8 rather than individual classes as 8, course as 48. Had to refund 4 people who had only booked single sessions. Ooops

I'd also like to point out that I'm not completely useless re 'listen to messages on both answerphones' being on my to do list. My ex was a controlling, abusive waste of skin and he would leave horrendous messages on my phone when he snapped, I've never quite got over the fear of listening to answerphone messages in case it's something horrible.

Not to be braggy, but hell I'm proud of what I've built - it's easy to be positive when there hasn't been a day in the last week where I've made under 500 in a day

New courses start tomorrow. I am sat planning tomorrows yoga shred workshop eating a chip butty. I'm aware of the irony. I have marketed and promoted and networked my !!! off for this term, and in return I've gone from 55 students to 168 students on weekly courses and another 80 booked onto workshops in January and February. If I sell no more course places (only a handful left) my income between now and 18th Feb when the next term starts is 8076.50. I need to take room hire off which will be approximately 700, and I've had to buy a bit more equipment (280), but still can't call that a bad income for a 6 week period. Some of that has already come in in the last few weeks and has gotten us out of the hole of missing payments but at least 5000 is still to come. If I can't start to get ahead of our debts now I need my head examining. Just need to teach the 15 classes a week now... at least I've been wanting to loose weight, now I have no choice. I did manage to accidentally overbook 3 classes by one person each, not the end of the world but I'm terrified extra people will show up who have paid and I somehow missed off.

Bit the bullet and gave 90% of our 'to ebay' pile to mum or charity. It's not a good use of my time faffing on making 2 here and 3 there when I can put the same time into growing my business and making a lot more. Feels good to have those boxes not cluttering up the house anymore.

Thanks CMD, At least 2000 arrives in my account tomorrow, going to use it to get up to date with all payments that are behind or close to due then by the end of the week I should have another 1500-2000 in the account to overpay

I agree brag away! You deserve things to go right for you.

I agree with the giving away stuff to charity rather than ebaying. You don't have loads of time and have found something more profitable.

Hope everyone has had a nice weekend. Mine has been quiet but spends have been low thankfully! Poppy had her dance classes yesterday and then they went out for dinner with their dad. Had a couple of friends pop over today so that was nice.

All accounts checked up to date and paid or slightly overpaid except 3 of NIMs as I don't have login details as they're all different. Will have to get him into them when he comes home.

Back to hospital today, operation tomorrow hopefully. My cover teacher for tonight is dependent on her daughter not going into labour, she's 40+5 so if it happens today I'll need to come back down and teach it myself.

Good luck with the surgery. And glad to hear that work is going well, agree with the others, you deserve it.

I am back on full money saving mode as well, sorted out accounts and set up new direct debits too. I got a payrise too so will be a bit better off every month.

Little Kavics is being a bit difficult, having new guy in our lives is really good but she can't express her emotions so having lots of tears and arguments. I try to reassure her all the time but it is hard work. I hope she will settle down soon, she really likes him and he likes her too. it is just a bit too much for her at the moment I guess.

Hope the operation goes ahead as planned Dinah.

Must be different for her Kavics but like you said hopefully she should settle soon. Good news on the payrise.

I noticed on Saturday that I have a crack across my windscreen so getting that fixed Friday, thankfully only have to pay the excess. Still not what you want in Jan.

Hope everything goes well with the operation! My brothers went well, but he had a bad reaction to the cocktail of drugs he was put on and spent most of Friday - Saturday hallucinating awful things that have left him pretty shaken up and very emotional since. Which isn't how he is at all, he's very British and "stiff upper lip"ish.

I'm so relieved to hear your hard work is paying off for your classes and you're finally making headway on things

I'm sure mini Kavics will settle down in no time, it's a big change in family dynamics but kids are very adaptable! Unless you try to take a dummy off of one during the day... then they're very unadaptable.

Anyone else bloody freezing today? The frost hasn't shifted here for 2 days. Took Oscar to playgroup this morning but was 15 minutes late after misjudging how long it would take to de-ice my car! Sorry to hear your windscreen is cracked, Wendz. I had mine replaced just before oscar was born and it's a real farce!

    Hi all,

Hope everyone's OK and Grace is recovering after her op. Hope your brother is doing ok too Cinny.

Not a great weekend here as i spent Friday waiting in for a man to fix my windscreen and got a call last min to say they weren't coming after i missed Heidi's ballet and Poppy's swimming lessons. Then Poppy came down with sickness sat night. A lot brighter today but off school still because of the 48 hour rule. At least it was a low spend weekend!

    Morning everyone.

Ugh Wendz that sounds like a pretty yuck weekend. Hopefully things will pick up this week and Poppy gets better soon.

I am doing Dry January which is good for clarity of mind. Not that I drink heaps anyway but nice to have a full month of not socialising.

Booked our summer holiday at the weekend. We are going to Salou for a week. The bad weather definitely made me do it. My debt signature is looking not very healthy at the moment but we are due some back tax and OH is also due a nice bonus at some stage so it will be reducing soon. Am hoping to get rid of the credit card altogether and then it will just be the loan which would be great.

    Hi all

So sorry to hear about your brother Cinny! What a nasty shock! Hope he's getting on alright now.

Hope Grace is doing well after her operation.

You're doing so well with the yoga courses! Those are some amazing figures, you've done a crazy good job over the last year building it up as much as you have!

Not the best news for me to report as I'm being made redundant next week. According to the scores on the personal assessment thingies that they did to decide who stays and who goes, I'm the loser (or, as my manager said, 'you just came 2nd...'). It stings a bit lot as the woman who is staying on only started in August and I bloody trained her! And she only knows about half of what I do but... I have MH problems which affect my mood and motivation etc which has been used to mark me down and I can't do much to fight it as it's my word against theirs re: discrimination. Trying to see it as a positive, applied for dozens of jobs and had my first (only, so far!) interview this morning (for a standard admin role rather than what I'm doing now) and was told that I'm too good for the job, I'd be bored and they can't pay me what I deserve so that's both good and bad I guess?? Just hope something comes up soon so I can use my payout for fun things rather than just keeping us afloat.

CMD - hope dry Jan is going well. The weather at the moment definitely makes you want to go on holiday!

Birdie - nice to see you here but sorry it is with bad news. Hope something comes up soon for you, sounds really tough.

That's rotten, Birdie Hopefully you'll get a good payout to keep you going for a while. And tbf as long as it pays the bills a quiet admin job would be perfect for you, especially considering MH issues - when it's easy work it's easy to catch up on quietly if you have a day when your motivation is zero. And I'm talking from experience Finger crossed something comes up soon!

My Brother has his next operation on Thursday, then after that he'll hopefully be home this weekend! Finally! It's day 45 of him being in hospital.
