Official Trying to Conceive - Thread 13 13th Apr 16 at 12:29 PM
This is the new thread for those trying for a baby.
    The previous one is here:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=5143999

Please be aware that this is a thread for those trying to conceive. If you wish to announce a pregnancy (or are only a couple of days from testing) and you have never used this thread before, please either wait until CD1 or use the less than 12 weeks pregnant thread. Hormones can run high on here (nature of the thread!) so please be sensitive. Many thanks!

There is no such thing as a silly question, so please ask anything you are curious about. Many of us have 'been there done that' and many of our graduates still read this thread and are happy to offer advice when it is needed and relevant.

As with everything deemed medical, we cannot offer medical advice, so please visit or call your GP if you have any concerns or questions. Getting a preconception check up is recommended and allows your GP to know that you're trying for a baby as well as identifying and rectifying any issues or problems that may interfere with a pregnancy before you conceive.

I'm actually CD13 at the moment - sorry for not updating, I was feeling really disheartened and gloomy but have picked myself back up again and am now in the midst of my fertile window. Trying not to do OPKs etc this month and attempting a more laid-back approach whilst limiting coffee and taking my pre-conception vitamins.

Sorry to hear about your ankle, PKK, hope you're on the mend soon.

Ovulated a few days early this month so I'm 2/3 dpo currently.

Hubby has been referred for sperm analysis on 2nd November as well as blood tests.

Thrift360 glad you see you back I feel you on the disheartened part. I'm glad you have picked yourself back up though

Tryingin2018 my hubby has his sperm analysis on the 1st Nov! There was a long wait for ours due to staff shortages He has to produce his 'specimen' in the clinic too poor thing! It said on the form he could take it with him but he wasn't given this option when he booked. Are the blood tests for you or OH?

Weve had the opposite. He saw the GP Friday and was given a list of appointment days! He's got to "produce" at the clinic too. I feel for you both having to wait, the thought of the results makes me anxious but id rather know.

The bloods are for him too, I'm hoping that when I see my GP Tuesday she will do the same.

Oh my OH wasn't referred for blood tests and from what I've researched online that doesn't seem to be typical for fertility checks for men. It is good that his doctor has done this! Do you know what the blood test is checking? Or is it just a random general wellness check one?

I am sure you doctor will refer you for blood tests also. I am going to go for another set on Friday and Monday (If I can get there, which may not be possible at the minute).

Aunty Pickle welcome back to the thread, I hope your stay is short!

CCJ how's the pup? We literally treat our dog like a baby lol so I can understand the worry, hope they're doing ok!

PKK great to hear your ankle is progressing, fingers crossed next month you can get back to TTC! Did you give the temping a go yet? I'm really interested to see what you think of it.

Very jealous of you all talking about holidays, unfortunately no way we can afford one for a few years now at least so if any of you can I'd say just do it! It can always be sorted or sold on if you do conceive and can't go, or it may be nice to have just one last holiday as a party of 2!

Spoke to my GP on Friday. I didn't mention TTC, just that I've been off the pill for over a year now and still getting erratic periods and it was as I expected, she has said it's highly likely my weight is the issue. She agreed anyway to do some blood tests to check things like my hormones, thyroid and blood sugar etc, but that if they all come back normal it's down to me to tackle the weight before they would do anything else. So it's Slimming World and the gym for me from now on!

    Hope everyone is well xx

So Prince Harry and Meghan are expecting a baby now...lovely news but how do the royal family manage to get pregnant so quickly? It’s not just them, I can think of 6 couples we know that got married after us and had a baby before their first anniversary. I suppose they might have been trying before the wedding but it still seems that we are in the minority!

Pup is doing much better buttermint he's to go back tomorrow to see them so hopefully all will be well. He always was in good spirits - he's super hyper all of the time and was even when he mustn't have been very well so it's hard to tell if he's in pain!
ginger that was my very first thought! I was grumbling in work about how soon it was, I'm sure I've drawn attention to myself about ttc from it lol. I know of a few people that have had babies before their first wedding anniversary too, must be super fertile lol. I think the fact I was with DH so long before we got married (7yrs) is perhaps why...def don't BD as much as we did in the early days lol.

Hmm thats a good point, we were together 9 years before we got married and I agree about that!

Fertile week started yesterday and OH is going away with work today. We have managed to BD yesterday and this morning but I suspect its too early and when he gets back on Friday itll be too late!

Buttermint, sadly I have forgotten every single morning to take my temp! You have to do it before you even sit up and at the same time every morning…. So it is going to take some discipline to get into the habit of this! I am mid cycle so I think I will wait until CD1 now anyway. I massively need to tackle my weight too. I have decided to give my fitness pal a try. I’ve never calorie counted but feel I need to try something different. Yesterday was my first day and I stayed perfectly within my calories, now just to do the same everyday (the hard bit!)

Ginger, funnily enough I spoke about this with a family member! Meghan has spoken openly about wanting to start a family and I think part of the reason they got married quickly is due to this (a baby out of wedlock would be a massive no no for them). She is considered ‘older’ for starting a family, so I reckon they have prepped probably with private medical apps and supplements etc for TTC so they were likely to fall pregnant asap. If we had all the money in the world I probably would have paid for tests as soon as we wanted to start trying!

My fertile window starts today according to Ovia. However, I had aches in my pelvis last night which in previous cycles came at the time I got a positive OPK, so I am wondering if I have ovulated! We were in bed ready to go to sleep and OH asked what this meant, I could tell he was wondering if this was my way of telling him to get to action! Haha But we had gone to bed late and he has to wake up very early so I’ve told him I’d let him off for last night but it will be an early night today. We BD’ed on Sunday so hopefully if I have ovulated there will be some swimmers ready.

Hi everyone! I was on this thread about 3-4 years ago whilst TTC #1, and ended up with twins who are now 2.5! DH and I have just gotten married and bought a house, so naturally we're thinking of completing our family unit with one more baby (or two!).

I come off the pill tomorrow and I'm all stocked up with prenatals, but I'm not going to stress too much. I am 4st lighter than I was first time around so hopefully that works in our favour!

    morning all
CD37 for me and no signs of anything!
This now equals the longest cycle I have ever had (and only once before) so I think I will give it another day or two then test.I think I am abit apprehensive to test if that makes sense?
guess we will see what the next day or two brings while trying not to drive myself insane symptom spotting

Welcome back to the thread lulu92 and congratulations on your marriage! That is an impressive weight loss, there are a couple of us on here trying to loose weight for TTC at the moment, how did you do it?

WJN222 it is such a strange feeling testing, especially when you don't have any signs at all of anything. I would say to do it though especially if you are past your period date, but do it with some cheapies at first Fingers crossed!

I've had really bad bloating over the past few days, to the point where I was in quite a bit of pain. I've drank nothing but peppermint tea to try and get rid of it. Plus today I noticed I've had really sore nipples, I noticed in work they were sore against my bra and when I took it off for bed they are really sore to the touch. All would be good signs except I'm in the fertile week haha.

PrettyKitty - I have a separate alarm which goes off for BBT and then I go back to sleep (in theory!) for another 15minutes before my "proper" alarm goes off.

aw, WJN22, it's hard trying to work out whether to test or not. When we tested (for J who's now 3.5yrs) we ordered a special takeaway - I figured it would be either a celebration or commiseration!

Hi lulu 92! Congrats on marriage and weight loss - that's brilliant! Let's hope a BFP quickly becomes a 3rd fantastic achievement!!

And just sending hugs to anyone else who wants or needs one....

Anyone else have just one ovary?
I try not to over-think it but I do find it a bit stressful.
This month OH was away with work during my fertile week (so I think I'm probably out for this month).
I didn't ovulate during September so I'm now thinking, "am I going to ovulate during November? or not until December?"
