Official Trying to Conceive - Thread 13 13th Apr 16 at 12:29 PM
This is the new thread for those trying for a baby.
    The previous one is here:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=5143999

Please be aware that this is a thread for those trying to conceive. If you wish to announce a pregnancy (or are only a couple of days from testing) and you have never used this thread before, please either wait until CD1 or use the less than 12 weeks pregnant thread. Hormones can run high on here (nature of the thread!) so please be sensitive. Many thanks!

There is no such thing as a silly question, so please ask anything you are curious about. Many of us have 'been there done that' and many of our graduates still read this thread and are happy to offer advice when it is needed and relevant.

As with everything deemed medical, we cannot offer medical advice, so please visit or call your GP if you have any concerns or questions. Getting a preconception check up is recommended and allows your GP to know that you're trying for a baby as well as identifying and rectifying any issues or problems that may interfere with a pregnancy before you conceive.

Sorry to hear the witch got you buttermint

Ughhh I'm so torn at the moment...as nothing has happened so far I really want to book a holiday, DH doesn't want to waste money on cheap trips and would prefer to book long haul if we're going to go somewhere. How on earth can you book a long haul holiday for next summer when you're TTC?!

We have the same problem CCJ! We usually go long haul and book ages in advance, this year we haven’t gone as far and have only booked a few months before. Now we’re disappointed that we didn’t go somewhere we really wanted to see. OH is desperate to book a holiday for next year. We both have holidays booked at work and flights are really cheap at the moment but if I was to get pregnant this month I’d be 8 months gone by then! Even if I wasn’t that far along I wouldn’t want to fly long haul but if we leave it until the last minute flights are so expensive.

And to make it even more difficult most long haul destinations are out of the question because of zika!

Ano, it's so frustrating and I'm assuming insurance doesn't cover to cancel the holiday if you're pregnant?

I didn't know Zika was still an issue! I will have to look into that!

    https://www.gov.uk/guidance/zika-virus-country-specific-risk

There’s a list of the countries still affected on this website, almost everywhere we want to go is on there.

It also says if there’s a moderate or high risk of zika you should not travel whilst pregnant and not become pregnant for 6 months afterwards if your partner is with you. Men carry the virus for up to 6 months, I think it’s only 6 weeks for women.

We are the same holiday wise CCJ and ginger. We want to go NYC at the very end of July four our wedding anniversary. We are saving for the holiday and then if we get to approx 5 months before and aren't pregnant yet I think we will book it. I don't mind going pregnant, but probably nothing more than 5 months. If we get pregnant and can't go then the money will be used for the baby.

My thermometer has been posted to hopefully it will arrive before the end of the week

We booked mexico for the end of sept with TUI back in march & only realised afterwards that it still had zika, they said with a doctors note saying we were trying to conceive we could change the holiday free of charge, so we ended up going to Tenerife instead.
I was hoping I would be pregnant before the holiday but no luck yet! I will be annoyed if we don't end up pregnant in the next 6 months because we could of gone haha.

My parents have suggested a big family holiday in March next year but will be somewhere close by, so no fear of Zika. As for holidays next year we've just bought a caravan! so we will be having plenty of UK holidays.

    Hi all,

    Hope everyoneis doing ok.

CD31 for me - I'm normally 28/29 cycles so just waiting at the minute - though no signs of anything yet.

I agree with some of your OH comments, I had a really stressful time at work a couple of months ago and ended up 7 days late - OH was like, well maybe leave it another week or so and see!! ergh what? MEN!

    Hi everyone!
I thought I'd rejoin as I remember these threads were so lovely last time! I have J who is 3.5yrs old - he's asleep right now as we live in New Zealand so it's evening time!

We've only just started trying again these last few months - I'm on CD13 (cycles usually pretty regular, around 28/29 days) and hubby is away this week with work - typical!

Hi aunty pickle, love the name! Welcome!

So my nightmare continues lol...still a lot of stress in the aftermath of our loss last month and now our beloved dog has to go for an operation tomorrow. Relatively minor issue but when they make you sign the consent form about the risks of anaesthetic I expect that my period will be late again this month!

Aunty-Pickle, welcome to the thread! What was your journey like when you were here for your 1st little one?

CCJ, oh no! I hope your dog is ok after their operation.

Well temping isn’t going very well… the first morning I had forgotten to take the thermometer upstairs and today I forgot to do it! From what I have read you need to do it as soon as you wake up before you even sit up and I am tending to remember after I’ve been up gone to the toilet etc.

I think ovulation is going to be in the next few days for me. Ovia says my fertile week starts on Tuesday so I am wondering if I may be ovulating earlier with a long luteal phase than Ovia expects based upon my CD21 bloods last month. With the broken ankle there has been no BDing and OH is pretty stressed with work at the minute so I can’t see this cycle being our cycle anyway. Won’t stop me suggesting an early night tonight haha

Hi Aunty-Pickle hope you find it just as lovely this time round as well I know i have so far

Oh no CCJ you poor doggy hope he'll be right as rain. I have two dogs and they are very much my babies so I know just how you're feeling right now.

PKK how is your ankle going? Do you know when you'll be back to normal with it yet?

Well no holidays for us next year as got too many weddings including my kid brothers. My best friend is getting married back in her home town in Southern Ireland but tbh I really dont want her to marry the bloke I cannot stand him they are constantly splitting up and getting back together he is just a loser through and through. However she is my best friend I will always be there for her so I will be happy for her and wish her the best. I've told her my thoughts (mildly) when they have been one of their off phases but she knows I'm here for her regardless of what she chooses to do.

Got all four wisdom teeth being removed next weds so that's going to be fun (not) got to have a general because of how their postitioned but luckily my local NHS has referred me to a private hospital free of charge so at least that's something lol

Booked tickets to see the band me and OH saw for our first date last night as been together 10 years next month so that's something to look forward too and we are having a day out in London on Sunday so I can go to air canadas pop up poutine bar to cheer myself up before weds

    Hope everyone else is ok

Aww PKK how are you managing with the ankle??

Faith that sounds lovely with the band! I know how you feel about your friend with the guy, I've a similar situation with one of my friends and I think the more you try and push someone one way, the more they'll go the other!

Dog is good at the moment, feeling very sorry for himself but through the op okay, has to go back on Tuesday so we'll know more then! Would break your heart seeing how sorry he is lol.

The ankle is coming along thanks Faith and CCJ. I can now walk on the boot so I am more mobile. I just need to start building up the time I am on it. I am hoping to go back to work towards the end of next week but it will be another months before I am free of the boot!
