Phew! Phew! Phew! It's soooooo hot here and not a single drop
    of rain. Boo!

I was watching the Big NHS Singalong live on ITV yesterday
evening and was fairly jealous as it was pouring there.

I've been there and seen these 'in the flesh' so to speak. Ok, well, 'in the mosaic' at any rate!

This is a fuller pic. I know it has stretched the thread, so I will delete it in a bit.

The 'bikinis' weren't for swimming, but for playing sports.
Funnily enough, our present day female athletes wear outfits verging on bikinis, don't they? Rather than the traditional singlet and shorts. I've always wondered why. If it's for streamlining, why don't the men wear similar? Hmm.

The villa dates from the early 4thC AD.

I only just discovered that it was National Bikini Day this
morning, so thankfully managed to post it today, including the
history. Admittedly I really didn't have time earlier on to
read it all, so will catch up with it later today.

National bikini day? Had I known, I would have worn my best mankini to Wetherspoons for breakfast .... yes, I have come out this morning as I'm feeling better.

Alfie, you posted a picture of a bus the other day (in Llangollen I think). Brought back memories - there were still a few like that around when I was little (yes, I was once, really)!

Currently enjoying a second coffee in Wetherspoons. I don't care what people say, for me it's good value. Toasted veggie sausage sandwich and unlimited coffee for £2.85.

IS COFFEE good for you? It’s probably a question many of us have
failed to ask ourselves when getting our daily intake of caffeine.
But coffee lovers around the world can rejoice, as the magic bean
has been proven to provide a myriad of health benefits.

If England don't succeed as I expect, I'd like Uruguay. Small country, but always said that if I ever moved to South America, would be towards the top of my list, along with Chile.

Sleazy, you do need to watch the number of coffees, though.........there's a fine line between it doing you good and causing problems, like everything, I suppose.

Also depends on the strength of each coffee.

    Good morning lovely Alphabettys

I hope you're all well and raring to go on this thoughtful,
    fun-filled & scrumptious day!

    Friday 6 July 2018

Action Mesothelioma Day is an annual day to raise awareness and
pay tribute to all those people suffering with the mesothelioma
cancer. The UK has the world’s highest incidence with more than
2,700 people diagnosed with mesothelioma each year and this
number is increasing. The rising number of patients is directly linked
to the UK’s continued import and use of asbestos into the late 1990s.
Here are just some of the events taking place around the country

    Duns Ba’

    Where: Duns Market Place
When: Friday of the First Full Week in July (ie the week following
the 1st Sunday in the month)
    Time: 6pm

The Duns Ba’ is a handball game played in the Market Place on the
Friday evening of Reivers Week using flat, round, cushion-like ba’s.

Formerly it took place at Shrovetide, the usual time for this type of
mass ball game, but in modern times the date was moved to
coincide with the town’s annual festival, Reivers Week in July.

Play is fast; three ba’s are thrown near the Mercat Cross and the
whole thing lasts for just over half-an-hour.

The ba’s are thrown by the head of the Hay family or his
representative, the Reivers Lass elected for the Festival and the
Wynsome Mayde elected from the local school

The two teams are traditionally married men v. bachelors, who
have their goals outside the Post Office and the White Swan
respectively. Expect to wince at some of the tumbles on the
    pavements!

    Helpful Hints

Plenty of parking available around the town but avoid the Market
Place area as this is where the game takes place. Stand behind the
barriers to avoid getting caught up in the scrum! Flat paved
surfaces so easily accessible and clean underfoot. Look out for the
boarded up shop windows and the display in the Post Office
    window.

In 2018 it will be held on Friday 6th July.

    http://calendarcustoms.com/articles/duns-ba/

Have a brilliant and safe day all whatever you have planned. I will
    catch up later.

    Hello Betties!

Sorry that I forgot to delete that stretchy pic.......have done so now.

Am going to try and resume my exercise dance class today, after a few weeks abstinence due to various lurgy-gurgies!

And it's hot, so I expect I'll melt even if I go very gently at it!

Now listen, I need your help.
I'm slipping into bad food habits, partly due to the recent stress from the teeth-gritting business, and partly due to not having been well. I've also slipped out of the 5:2 habit again.

As a result, I'm 8 months pregnant again.

Plus there's a (hopefully temporary) hole in my life due to finishing with AmDram, so scope for more temptation lapses!

So, would you Betties PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE start nagging me and be my watchdogs, and keep at me to desist?

Luckily, I haven't succumbed to the single malts or stocking up with favourite beer etc.
I have had the odd bottle of beer, which I've mentioned on here, but probably, let's count them up, I think it's 5 bottles of beer since May, plus the aperitif I bought from Italy in May, so they've just been occasional treats.

But, have been buying food stuff from supermarkets that's been turning into very regular rather than occasional.

So pleeeeeeeeese nag me to stop!
Please become more naggy than the worst naggers in Nagland and more naggy than the gold-winnng naggers of the Nagging Olympics.

I neeeeeed you to nag me!

    Good morning Alphabetty's.
Had a call from GP yesterday to pick up a screpiption for more pills.
Apparently my vitamin D levels are rather low, so now on a weekly pill for a couple of months to get them up. Surprises me as I eat loads of eggs and try to get out in the Sun .... looking on the net, could go towards some of my issues like fatigue.

Anyway, will take the first one today ....
