Time to step up to the plate.. 12th Feb 15 at 11:24 PM
    Hi all

This is my first post with this username.. I have RL friends who use MSE and I'm embarrassed for them to know how much debt we have. I've been following several DFDs for a while and have found them so inspiring that I thought having one of my own would keep me to the straight and narrow. Not counting the mortgage, I owe a shade over 26000 but I had my LBM just before Christmas and that's already an improvement. I've done a first draft of an SOA and I'll post that in a bit. I'm lucky that I earn a good wage, and have a business too, which generates a variable amount every month, so I tend not to rely on that income.

Today's money saving has included switching my gas and electricity for both our properties, (our house and an annex) which should save 1000 a year!! I've also applied for (& been accepted!) for a 0% card. I'm going to wait until I see what the credit limit is before I decide which card to pay off. I'd like to pay the most expensive one off, which is the sensible choice, but it might be enough to clear my lowest card altogether so we'll see.

I'd appreciate some company.. But for now I'm off to bed. More tomorrow! (And it's payday! )

I'm a bit calmer now. We've been through his money, and have made some changes to various pots so that he'll stop adding to his cards. The EF will grow more slowly, but it's better that we work together to keep DH within budget.

Gas and elec meters read and updated. The gas bill for the house is huge, its old and not very well insulated, but we've already switched the heating off. We're in credit for the electricity though, so I'll arrange for that to be repaid.

Today's plan is to try to drive, for the first time since the operation. I've got a few little chores to do in our nearest town so I'll go there. A few cautious steps up and down the main street and we'll see how that goes. I'm supposed to go back to work on Thursday, but I'm not sure I could do full days yet. We'll see.

    Hi

I extended my sick note.. and set myself a target of 30000 steps this week to gradually build up time on my feet. I overdid it yesterday - it was a wedding of two lovely friends so I'm taking it easy today. Current position is on the sofa with my feet up! Due to go back to work next Thursday.

MSE wise: I've machine dyed the curtains in the caravan, which were a non-descript sort of grey colour and very striped where the sun had faded them. For the princely sum of 8 something I have now got ecclesiastical purple! Very sumptuous, and hopefully once ironed will look good in the 'van. Considering I was planning on buying fabric and making them, this is a bargain, as well as time saving.

As ever, money is tight. Payday on the 15th. I've got 22 in my purse and I really don't want to take any more out if I can help it. Challenge on!

At least DH has confessed and you can help him sort things out.

Glad the knee op went well and that you're building the exercise up slowly.

Good luck with the money challenge.

Thank you both.. I've only done 5500 steps today so feeling much better!

We've finally got round to taking pictures of the folding camper so that's now on the bay of e.. I think ours is the best value one on there (of course!). I'll be sad to see it go. Proceeds will get split equally between my card and DH's. And I've put up the newly dyed curtains in the caravan; they look great!

    Such beautiful weather!!!

I did half an hour of weeding in the garden today, it needs so much doing to it. I think I'll try and do a teeny bit every day, especially now that the lighter evenings are here. It did hurt my knee a bit, although I wasn't kneeling, so I've had the ice pack on it again.

I'm back at work tomorrow. Can't say I'm really looking forward to it..

Car tax due the end of the month just when the savings are looking healthy. It's a 4x4 so the tax is hefty, and I always begrudge paying it - although this winter it has been worth its weight in gold so I shouldn't grumble really.

Over 50 watchers on the folding camper so far.. just need someone to actually bid now

Well, we've sold the camper to a lovely family. I'm pleased, think they'll love it as much as we have. It's probably a bit silly, but I really didn't want to sell it to one of the couples that came to see it. I just had a really strong vibe that they wouldn't use it. They made us an offer but we turned it down, and I'm so glad we held out.
And I'm back at work. Still getting quite tired at the end of the day, and it's like I've never been off of course. Lots to do.

I really must do something about my weight. It'll help my knee, and stop me feeling so 'mumsy'. Back to MFP I think.

In MSE news.. we've been eating out of the freezer this week, so the food bill is looking good. Selling the camper means that we can both have a bit for our cards, and it's also meant that we can go away for the BH weekend in the caravan. We stay at very small sites with no facilities, so it's always cheap. Looking forward to it
