Does it drive you up the wall when people 'literally' die laughing? Or how about those who give 110%?

I had to restrain myself from making a rude response to a FB post which was shared.

A school across the border has warned parents, by email, that a potential abductor 'has been sited near the school, stopping pupils near his van.'

Iím tempted to ring them tomorrow.

Too many to mention. Biggest bugbear at the moment is the way people say "an alternate option" instead of "an alternative option".

I!!!8217;m having to bite my lip, or still my typing finger, at the errors on various posts.

The only one who has an excuse is Sam, who has real eyesight problems, as he posted under his earlier name.

If they then see the "wrong" version repeatedly in texts and social media they accept it as right - or at least an alternative.

I have an ongoing theory that there are a good number of people who seldom read a professionally written /edited book or magazine or newspaper - so they don't encounter the correct or standard versions of phrases or spellings often enough to notice.

It also depresses me sometimes that the quality of English used in mainstream media is declining - and I'm including national newspapers and broadcasters here. I recommend Professor Pedanticus to you all

    She finds this quite Gaulling...

(I thought I'd better get the pun in before Pyxis thought of it....)

Posting it on here is a catharsis!

I try not to comment, unless someone specifically asks if that's the right spelling, etc., or if I 'know' someone well enough to be able to pull their leg!

It might just be a typo, and God knows I make loads, especially now that I've got RSI in my hands and can't use a stylus on this iPad for the time being, and have to use my left hand and different fingers.

Besides which, if I were to comment every time, I'd be posting nothing else!

No, this thread is great for releasing pent-up spelling frustrations!
