Three choices in life; Give up, Give in or Give all you've got!! 6th Nov 14 at 4:53 PM
    This is my 2nd diary on MSE. My first diary, "When I asked for luck I didn't mean the bad variety!!" has to be closed as it's reached over 5000 posts!! It can be found here;

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=3911061

In 2011 my Husband had a motorcycle accident resulting in a severe brain injury, memory problems and Epilepsy. Unfortunately he is getting worse not better and I am now his full time Carer, which can be challenging, but I'm ever grateful he is still here! I also have 2 boys aged 10 and almost 5, a part time job and I'm currently a Beaver Leader but I've just given notice to leave at Christmas (as much as it pains me!) as I just can't manage that too. The last 3.5 years have been hard going for lots of reasons, but worth it. Every day may not be good, but there's something good in every day!!

At the time of the accident we owed over £23,700 on credit cards and we currently owe just over £3000. Hopefully this diary will see us getting debt free forever! I hope you'll join me.

    Lucky Xx

Details for London still arenít absolute, but think we are travelling down Wed, staying 2 nights and travelling home Friday, all paid for by the competition provider . Very excited but will be more so when itís totally confirmed.

The boys are thrilled because it means they finish school on Tuesday not Friday .

Bought some of DS1ís High School uniform last night at the open evening £96 . And thatís without trousers, full PE kit, shoes, bag, stationery......

Uniform costs are extortionate - always have been, nothing changes on that front unfortunately.

Have a fab time in London and fingers crossed you win xx

Iíve been looking at things to do in London in our free time. Hoping to use my Carers payment to do some things - quite fancy Madame Tussaudís. Also want to do free things like the Natural History Museum. DH canít remember being in London 2 years ago, so I suspect we will do similar sight seeing to then also Xx

Well we had one day partial seizure free and itís been back again today. I think because DH has been getting up super early (and has his morning tablets when he gets up) itís then more than the preferred 12 hours between that and the evening dose. Iím going to insist he has his tablets earlier over the next few nights and see if that makes a difference.

My lovely Grandma is back in hospital with a crushed spine . She was a bit high on painkillers but otherwise really good tonight. Fingers crossed she can go home in the next few days.

Hi all, the wanderer returns! Back from London .

Firstly, thank you for all the well wishes re Grandma. She got home from hospital on Thursday .

    So, London.
Train broke down on the way there, causing a 2 hour delay . Hotel was fantastically well positioned, right near Kings Cross station and underground, but no air con meant that it was unbearably hot and uncomfortable. Sleep was minimal and we were all grumpy by the end of the trip which was a shame as it was otherwise a great experience.

We visited the Ace Cafe (for DH), Picadilly Circus, Rainforest cafe, Trafalgar Square, Westminster, Buckingham Palace, and the Shard. DH wanted to see the views from the Shard, so instead of paying to go on the viewing platform, we had a drink in the Aqua Bar on the 32nd floor. It cost £18 for 4 soft drinks but that was still a huge saving on the viewing price for the same experience.

The actual awards were great. We were given afternoon tea and heard lots of positive stories about all 5 families. The friend that nominated us had written such a lovely piece about us . We were all treated to the London Eye VIP style which was great. In the end they said they couldnít chose a winner as all 5 finalist families deserved to win so they split the prize between us! We got 12 free return train tickets (ie enough for us to have 3 trips as a family), the boys got presents such as books, sweets, mini pool table etc, and we were allowed free entry to any Merlin attraction. We had planned to visit Madame Tussaudís on the Friday anyway, so we used the tickets then. It was a really good experience until someone was rude to DH and he snapped and shouted at them . It felt time for home then.

Getting the train home proved difficult too, and we had to let two overcrowded trains leave without us as there was no way I could stand all the way back to Newcastle. My feet were terrible after 3 days of lots of walking and I cried at the thought of not having a seat. Then a lovely staff member sorted it for us to get on the train before everyone else so we all got a seat. The train was delayed getting home so it made it a long journey and I was pleased to eventually get back.

So the summer holidays have officially started. No idea how we will cope financially but looking forward to more memory making Xx
