Need to get myself together: The beginning 16th Sep 14 at 1:38 PM
    Hi all

I am back. Short story, I was in this position before though holding a baby in my arms and his dad left us with a loan I got for him (I naively believed there was people after him) and such a bad overdraft. I managed to scrape it back and pay it all off and was on a high (figuratively) of being debt free.

Four years on I have been left (no baby this time) and foolishly beleived this guy was decent. No need to tell me off or should have known better, believe me I am my own worst enemy.

So now my debts are :

£1,000 overdraft (hope to clear by Christmas or least by January)
£200 odds Next (Yeah this is me I cannot blame anyone but myself here) I want it cleared by Christmas at least
£5,000 loan ( I am mad I know for having got it for him and he "says"will help with this but will not hold my breath as he is already asking for more money - probably for the girl he left me for...) I hope to pay this back in 2.5 years not the 5 year plan I was given.

Anyway, I am determined and I will not fail

Also need to put money aside for America in May 2015. (£125 a month) and also 52 week challenge. The reason I am going to America is its my 30th and my mum and dad are paying for this.

The first post is longer than I thought it would be I am so sorry!!

Hopefully I will be back on track soon xx

I seriously worry about some people. That's appalling to leave somewhere in that condition. My son recently bought his first home. Immaculate. The couple who sold it left him everything. Glasses and a bottle of champagne in an ice bucket plus a card wishing him well in his new home.I remember my SiL and I scrubbing my late mother's house from top to bottom before the new tenants moved in because she would have been mortified if she had thought that people would have thought i wasn't clean.
Hope you get it all sorted.

What a cheek of some people, eh? Our house was disgusting when we moved in - I was pregnant and up a step ladder scrubbing walls and ceilings. Rank!

Hope you get the essentials sorted soon then you can relax. Not long until your holiday now!

Your parents are peed off cause you are doing your own thing alone albeit your borrowed money off them due to last minute hiccup with the mortgage lender but once you've paid it off you can tell them to wind it in xx

If one of my kids bought their own house by themselves I would be so proud of them xx

Unfortunately some families seem to need a scapegoat. When my sister, earning more than twice me & no child to support, paid off her mortgage in 19 yrs instead of 25, she got that's great let's go out for dinner to celebrate. When I paid mine off in 11yrs instead of 20, I got Oh really! They will never change, any good idea of your's will have become your sister's idea. I still saw them as regularly but actually stopped communicating, what they don't know won't hurt them (well you actually)

Aw monz I can't believe they are doing this to you again.

They just don't appreciate how lucky they are to have a daughter like you and a fab wee grandson that they are able to have a relationship with.

Don't let these things get you down Monz - don't let it put a dampener on your house move.

Honestly, I've never met anyone who has moved into a house and felt 100% satisfied! There's always something that wasn't as they thought, or something broken. To be honest, i'm still not 100% in love with my house almost 4 years later but I know the potential of it and once we've got everything the way we want it then I know i'll love it. It's our forever home and it's OUR home and that's all the matters.

Get the necessities sorted, go on holiday and you'll have a new outlook when you get back, ready to tackle the rest of the house stuff

So have you done the semi-hysterical twirl round the living room saying "It's mine all mine" followed by the OMG what have I done what was I thinking?

You should have been thinking I am taking charge of my own life & future & that of my child & that I CAN do this. Because you can. If you are thinking of taking another man into your life just remember that if he lives with you he could end up owning some of YOUR house.

I'm really pleased for you - well done!

Be prepared to change the locks when you discover that they are going through your post (like I did when my son caught my mother). A bummer I know but they won't let go unless you make them.

There will be no man living in my house. Other than my boy I am quite anti men these days unless they are my friends lol

No twirls for me until I get that livingroom fixed Still awaiting news from solicitor if they are sending me the £600 to fix both places.

Got my first mortgage payment and only £10 dearer for first month well impressed and had money kept aside, this was used to get my son much needed trainers, school rain jacket, school winter jacket, shirts and trousers for school. Means now I only need to get his school jumpers, school t shirts, bag, stationery... it never ends lol! I promised he can pick a big up in Belfast

This weekend was busy, my friends bday night out (took my car) then Saturday I painted the kitchen walls and the tiles (tile paint £40!!!) but I loved the outcome. Need to get cupboard paint and still awaiting my fablon to come in post then kitchen will be done

Got my council tax letter in and they have not added the single person discount :/ so will need to phone them for this. £75 up per month otherwise when after discount will be £30 higher. Once sorted I might put £100 down on council tax in payment to get it down. See what can be done. Forgot to bring letter to work so will phone tomorrow. I have emailed in mean time saying.

I will also pay my new factor bill that is £21.56 got a card so when home will pop up to shops and pay for this so I dont get hassle lol.

6 days until holiday and 2 weeks until Belfast
16 days until payday. I have £300 money left and also already done big food shop (still to pay £8 netflix and £24 for home insurance) so hoping as no money needed for holiday(s) will have about £250 left. Will keep £100 towards house decorating and add on to my mum and dad end of month. will know better by end of month

My son has tkd training day and he doesnt know it but is up for green belt grading. My dad is taking him and if he passes brill and if not no problem at all he will at future date.

Solicitor has asked for more information regarding the previous sellers paying £600 to get my house fixed so better get news soon as I sent the information they asked for....

Nothing else to add. Hoping council tax be sorted soon.
