Need to get myself together: The beginning 16th Sep 14 at 1:38 PM
    Hi all

I am back. Short story, I was in this position before though holding a baby in my arms and his dad left us with a loan I got for him (I naively believed there was people after him) and such a bad overdraft. I managed to scrape it back and pay it all off and was on a high (figuratively) of being debt free.

Four years on I have been left (no baby this time) and foolishly beleived this guy was decent. No need to tell me off or should have known better, believe me I am my own worst enemy.

So now my debts are :

£1,000 overdraft (hope to clear by Christmas or least by January)
£200 odds Next (Yeah this is me I cannot blame anyone but myself here) I want it cleared by Christmas at least
£5,000 loan ( I am mad I know for having got it for him and he "says"will help with this but will not hold my breath as he is already asking for more money - probably for the girl he left me for...) I hope to pay this back in 2.5 years not the 5 year plan I was given.

Anyway, I am determined and I will not fail

Also need to put money aside for America in May 2015. (£125 a month) and also 52 week challenge. The reason I am going to America is its my 30th and my mum and dad are paying for this.

The first post is longer than I thought it would be I am so sorry!!

Hopefully I will be back on track soon xx

Yeah, it's crazy how all the costs add up isn't it? When we moved we hadn't properly factored in legal fees, survey costs, stamp duty etc. Well, we knew they were there, we just didn't know how much. We had a small chunk left in savings which we were hoping to use to do bits to the house but the above ate most of it up.

When we moved in, it became clearer how minging the carpets and blinds were (stinking with nicotine) , the oven hadn't been cleaned for (no joke) about 20 years and so these things that we'd been hoping to do gradually had to happen ASAP - £2.5k later (flooring, oven, blinds) we were left with a couple of hundred quid left in savings.

Also think about things like the cost to change your address on driving license (if there is one now), paying a month up front for energy costs like a lot of places want you to do now, sorting out final payments for your old place and up front payments for the new place etc. I just found there were loads of little bitty things that ended up eating up a chunk of money.

Anyway, not trying to put you off! Just trying to reaffirm that you're doing the right thing in waiting until you have a good chunk saved.

Want to have £2-3k aside and as much as a deposit too. my mum and that said would help but I want to do this on my own as I know their "word" has consequences and rubbish xx

From the things you've said about your family in the past I definitely think it's the right thing to do to wait and do it yourself. You'll feel such a sense of achievement to get it done on your own!

    Hey everyone

    Gonna be a long post.

First I am getting a new car !! It is same as hire car before that I loved and will be £30 per month dearer but its bigger as well plus I feel safer in it after the current car has been hit and I would rather feel safe. I collect it on 30 March so excited, it will be white as well we renault clio

Also my son never went to his competition Saturday night he got took into hospital with his croup back with vengence it was quite bad and we got an ambulance to take us. He was fine once we got there and when he got his steroid medicine you would never believe he was struggling to breath. He was laughing singing and yes even dancing in the ward the nurses said he was a dream to have on a Saturday night cheering everyone up Sunday with not 2 hours sleep I was like death and my son inside running up n down hall pretending to be a dragon... I am sure the recovery was taken out on me :P

Also got myself a Fire tablet. I had my amazon vouchers and paid £1.98 instead of a kindle as there is a sale plus it includes a kindle and much more.

Saving now get my neice a 3d puzzle for her birthday next month and I am finished her birthday

VO is at £3.65 and payday is in 10 days xxxx

    Oh happy new car!!!

Not so good about mini monz but at least he picked up as soon as he got the steroids in his system.

it must be horrible having to see him struggle for breath like that.

Been trying to build up my VO but not really been doing anything at home, will need to get my act together!

    Morning!

9 days to payday and 10 days until new car

VO is at £5.90 due £5 from a survey this week and hoping to cash out VO amazon next week. Getting the 3D jigsaw

I am now £40 from where my house deposit was before so hoping to reach that by time I am paid and then when paid will be about £6,650. So might meet my goal of £7k by end April

Viewing a house Thu night. It is near where I live. Two bedroom and in a nice area https://www.primelocation.com/for-sale/details/46382563?search_identifier=0cc5f22590cdb67de1d5d6e d0d20c6a3

I was thinking I could see if I can get a mortgage with 5k deposit and leaves me with approx £2 for legal fees and crap. Just thoughts. Please let me know if I am being silly lol xx

    Morning Monz,

I think that house is lovely! I'm so jealous of the price, something similar would be closer to £130,000 here Still away for me to go yet.
If you can get a good morgage with a £5k deposit then I think its a really good idea. Do you have an emergency fund?
    Emergency Savings #73 = £1,500/£2,000
    House Savings = £14,000/£20,000 + £600 Furniture
    Xmas 2018=£60/£300 Australia =£0.00/6000
