The new thoughts of the day thread 12th Apr 14 at 5:06 PM
I thought i'd start a new fresh thread seeing as the old one was quite long & was started in January 2013. Hopefully this one will be a bit more lively.

Anyway my thought for the day is why are teenage girls more selfish than teenage boys (imo)? I swear Meg has caused me so much hassle compared to either of my boys & seems to think the world revolves around her.

I've been to Milton Keynes shopping today & omg it was so busy, i'm so glad I live in a small town as we don't get traffic jams.

I hope everyone is well & having a lovely weekend.
I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

In French, 'gi' is pronounced zhi as in gigolo ('zhi-golo'). Not with g as in giggle.

So presumably, Siobhan is pronounced shi von because bh is pronounced that way in Gaelic.

Anyway, we can't talk.....not when Berkshire is pronounced Barkshire, etc.!

And Theresa pronounced Teresa, and not The-resa, etc. Etc. Etc.

By the way, in some languages, b and v are almost interchangeable. In a lot of Indian languages, our b is often pronounced as v, and I've noticed that in other languages, too.

I don't know for sure, not knowing any Gaelic, but the h part of the bh may indicate an element of aspiration in the correct sound.

On Monday of last week there was a road accident here, car vs motorbike.

The 17 year old motorcyclist was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital where he sadly died on Sunday. The news wasn't released until yesterday. Tonight was the first time since hearing about the lad's death that I walked past the accident spot.

There are flowers and tributes along the side of the road and it's all made me incredibly sad, a young life snuffed out before it had even really begun.

I hope the car driver wasn't at fault because...how do you even start to get your head round the fact you killed someone, especially a youngster. I think something like that would finish me off.

RIP young unnamed man from Swindon
