The Good Morning Thread 5th Apr 14 at 6:17 AM
Well, we've got a goodnight thread so let's have a good morning one as well.

    Good morning everybody
Me and the dog have had our morning constitutional and shortly I shall be venturing forth to the big Tesco to do my fortnightly shop. When I get home I've got 3 hours work related admin and paperwork to do

The weather here is a bit nippy but at least there's no fog.

Dreamy, your average GPS will have a walking mode, but I don't know about tracking history.

I can see every run I have ever done when looking at Garmin Connect (or strava)

Fruity the Sensible is right though that any running watch will track a walk, the rest of the features are just bells and whistles.

I had a Fitbit in the past but the material kept peeling and the internal module popped out - they replaced it twice but then I lost interest.

I could use my phone, but something on my wrist which I could easily look at sounds better. I wouldn't need anything nearly as technically advanced as a Fenix or any of the Samsung ones.

I've got an iPhone and had an Apple Watch before but found it poor as a tracker - it was all about filling the rings - I'm not even sure it had a step counter on it. Ended up selling it.
I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

I actually wish I'd turned the step tracking on for the 36 mile race I did last year as I may have beaten my record of about (I think) 50,000 steps in a day when I walked the 3 peaks.

Have a look at suunto watches as they are quite nice and relatively cheap for what you get.

All I do when I go for a walk is time myself. My normal walking pace is 5 km/h according to our treadmill, so if I go out for an hour I know I've done about 5 km.

This one looks quite good and just over half the price of an Apple Watch, it has GPS - I have £20 Argos vouchers, too.
