This is it *ping* lightbulb!!! 24th Mar 14 at 4:43 PM
    Hi all

Been a member of this forum for a while, I thought I had had my lighbulb moment in the past but clearly I had not!!!

We (OH and I) have nearly 44k of debt not inc our mortgage

We have two gorgeous little ones and I am sick of having no money for them to do things (son is old enough to start swimming lessons now and I really want him to be able to do things like that)

We were all depressed about the figure and wondering how on earth we were going to pay it off, thinking it was going to take 10 years +

I spent all of yesterday ringing the credit card companies and getting the APRs for my accounts, then we snowballed it
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
And to my MASSIVE suprise, if we can scrape even just 20 from somewhere in the budget and snowball the way the calc tells us we will be debt free in 4.5 years!!!!

That has made me and OH feel even more positive about it all!

I will try and not bore you all with my diary ... but it prob will be lol

We sent some things to music magpie yesterday, they said they will pay 62 for them, now I just hope they pass their checks and we get the 62 (they should do)

And we have some things on ebay due to end in 6 days.

    Heres to being debt free

Well I have had the most boring day at work ever!!! All the systems are down and have been since before I came in at 8am, I am soooooo bored, there is literally nothing we can do with no system!

OH has some things to stick on ebay, so I need to do that at some point this week.might stick them on on thursday for 10 days so they end on sunday night. Just need to sort the descriptions out.

I have a lovely homemade curry in the slow cooker today, can't wait to get home and have that for my tea.

I hope everyone has had a good day xx

    Morning all,

    How is everyone doing?

Half term here, it's freezing today!!!! So icy!!!! kids are just chilling out at the minute, I need to do a ton of washing (where did it all come from!!) and housework to do (I've done upstairs just need to do downstairs)

We have our new shed coming today (I am nervous, I hate accepting deliveries) I am excited for it being built, it's for the kids bikes, scooters, outside toys etc, we need to shuffle the yard around when it's built as I want it to go where my greenhouse currently is, and my greenhouse moving closer to the house.

I really need to get in the greenhouse and sort through all the pots etc from last year, and we need to get chopping away at the roots at the side of the house from where we cut trees down, as that is where I am going to be growing my potatoes, melons and strawberries

Had to order the kids new school shoes, I had bought one of clarks foot measuring devices and both kids were a whole size bigger, oops, so they came this week, need to check the fit before I get rid of the boxes etc.

Going to get OH to take photos of the things he wants to list on ebay, we need to get them on this weekend really

I hope everyone has a good day xx

I know we are in for the long haul and I feel very positive

The shed did come thank OH and FIL are going to build it tomorrow afternoon, so I need to get a photo of the yard cos I want before and after pics lol xx

    Morning all

Can't believe it's the last day of half term!!!

OH has gone to work but will be back at lunch time as him and FIL are going to move the greenhouse and build the shed, I need to get out there and take things out the greenhouse.

First me and the kids are going to the local shops to get some chocolates and a card for my brothers birthday as they are coming round to see us tomorrow (money comes out of the christmas/birthday savings which we put 100 a month away for)

I've done my online shop to come on sunday, and this weeks menu looks like this

Sunday - Gammon Steaks, Chips and peas
Monday - Slow cooker chicken curry
    Tuesday - Slow Cooker chilli
Wednesday - Slow cooker sweet and sour chicken
Thursday - Beef Stew with Asparagus
    Friday - Chicken Satay
Saturday - Home made sausage rolls, chips and beans

For my lunches at work I am trying big mac in bowl, and on my off days I will have omlette or soup from the freezer

Have a good day, I better crack on xx

    Afternoon all

Meh I am in a funk today I feel really low and tired, I can't wait for home time from work!!

I was super productive on sunday, the tea's for mon-wed are all slow cooker ones, so yesterday I chopped all the veg that I need for the three teas (chicken curry, chill, sweet and sour) and put them in clip lock boxes in the fridge (it really keeps them fresh still) so all I have to do in the morning is add them to the slow cooker with the meat and the spices/sauces that I need to use. Makes it a bit less stressful in the morning getting the tea ready and then the kids dressed and breakfasts done etc

18 Days till me and OH go to London!!! getting excited about the break away now tbh, I will be dying to see the kids by the time we get back, I've told them I will bring them back something from the M+M shop

Need to get my mam something for mother's day, something extra by a little bit as she has the kids on mothers day as we are away (didn't realise it was mothers day at the time)

Have a good day all xx

    Morning all,

How is everyone doing? I have been moving card balances around as some 0% were due to end next month, will sort my signature out once they have settled down.

I'm not really feeling like I can say what I want about my debt journey at the moment on here which is a shame cos this is/was my outlet where I could speak freely and not receive any judgement.

Anyhoo, I have made a start on my growing for this year, I planted tomato, peppers, chilli, strawberry and baby cucumber seeds on friday, so they are on my windowsills. I have courgette and melon seeds to plant but they don't need doing till April

The shed is all built and in place and we have a lovely stain to put on it but haven't started doing that yet, we need to finish sorting the side of the house out, we need to dig the roots out still and level the mud off and put the slabs down for the bins to go on. Then I need to get all the weeds and daffodils etc up and prepare the soil for potato planting in March

Not much else planned today, kids need to do their homework, then I am hoping I have some free time to do some gaming with them later on

Have a good day all xx

Thanks Abba, that does help. We are still dealing with it, so don't think we shouldn't do the things that crop up. As long as there is a plan in place (which there is for both of us) then there is no issue

Work for me today, I am tucking into some of my mam's chilli for my lunch, love my mam's chilli I have campfire stew in the slow cooker for my tea.

Printed off my confirmations for the convention in London, 11 days till we go now! Getting excited! Need to sort out a packing list and decide what I should wear

Also need to decide on what to get mam for mothers day, she is going to the lakes in may with her sister so will consider getting her a voucher for the spa there

Have a good day all xx

I hope your son enjoys it Abba

I am getting stressed now, I need to do some lists, the kids are staying at both grandparents for half the weekend, so need to do bags for the first half of the weekend which includes swimming things for their lesson, and then bags for the second half which includes car seats and school uniform

I also need to figure out what I am wearing for the convention and do some sort of packing list for myself, argh

Kids went back to school today (school was closed wed-fri for the insane snow we had), my mam normally has them on monday but is getting new windows fitted today so they were in breakfast club this morning and are in after school club and we will pick them up on the way home from work.

Nothing much else to report really lol

I've ordered some party invites from ebay for their joint birthday party, it's not till 8th april but due to easter hols I need to get the invites out mid march

I hope everyone has a good day xx

    Hey everyone,

    How are we all doing?

No overpayment from the shopping this week, should be able to next week I think, I need to make my daughter a birthday cake but we have most the ingredients in already.

The kids joint birthday party is this sunday, we have 18 coming (including my two) so I need OH to pop in tomorrow when he is on his linch from work to confirm numbers for the food

I am at work today, but then I am off till next tuesday, need to pop to the bank, the post office (to return some faulty goods to amazon) and the barbers' for DS to get his hair cut tomorrow.

I am excited cos we have booked the trains for london for Taylor Swift, and I discovered a rail card called Two Together which lets you get at least 1/3 off tickets for two people, it knocked the train tickets down by 100, and it cost 30 so we are already 70 up on it

Have a good day all xx

Thanks Abba, I was very happy slightly kicking myself I didn't know about the card before lol
I need to take photos of me and OH for the rail card and get that ordered

Also need to hunt the house for mine and OH's passports, OH's has expired, mine does in June, so they both need renewing, but I can't find them, need to have a hunt so I can just do the renewal process other than the lost passport process, we've not used them since 2009 so god knows where they are in the house

It's raining today so I am postponing the shops and barbers etc xx

Thanks Abba, I didn't manage to find mine, found OH's and the kids birth certs (which I have now put all together in a safe place lol)
So I cancelled mine online, and this morning received a text confirming it has been cancelled, they have given me a reference number which I have to put on the replacement passport application.

I am going to wait till I am back at work on Tuesday to do the passport applications, you seem to fill them in online then pay and then print them off to send with photos I assume? we have a printer here but I've no idea how to use it lol, so will just do it at work

I have somehow hurt my foot in my sleep. I am not sure how lol, I need to go to post office and the kids bank to pay in a birthday cheque, but I think I will wait cos it's DD's birthday on monday and her great grandma is likely to give her a cheque, so may as well do them both together, I need to check amazon to see when I am meant to have sent the returns back by as that will determine if I need to go to post office today

Then I thought we could just pop into the barber's on the way home from kids swimming lesson on saturday to get son's hair cut

Other than that I am just doing housework at home, my tomato plants need moving into bigger pots so I need to do that, I have had to order more pepper seeds and strawberry seeds, the strawberries just haven't sprouted at all, the peppers had and were looking fab but then all of a sudden withered in half a day I hope they come soon

Have a good day all xx
