This is it *ping* lightbulb!!! 24th Mar 14 at 4:43 PM
    Hi all

Been a member of this forum for a while, I thought I had had my lighbulb moment in the past but clearly I had not!!!

We (OH and I) have nearly 44k of debt not inc our mortgage

We have two gorgeous little ones and I am sick of having no money for them to do things (son is old enough to start swimming lessons now and I really want him to be able to do things like that)

We were all depressed about the figure and wondering how on earth we were going to pay it off, thinking it was going to take 10 years +

I spent all of yesterday ringing the credit card companies and getting the APRs for my accounts, then we snowballed it
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
And to my MASSIVE suprise, if we can scrape even just 20 from somewhere in the budget and snowball the way the calc tells us we will be debt free in 4.5 years!!!!

That has made me and OH feel even more positive about it all!

I will try and not bore you all with my diary ... but it prob will be lol

We sent some things to music magpie yesterday, they said they will pay 62 for them, now I just hope they pass their checks and we get the 62 (they should do)

And we have some things on ebay due to end in 6 days.

    Heres to being debt free

    Done my meal plan

    This week we are having:
Sunday - Chicken, Mash Potato, Roast Potato, Peas, Broccoli, Green Beand and Parsnips, with Syn free gravy
    Monday - Spaghetti Bolognese
Tuesday - Fish, Chips and Peas (10.5 syns but the fish is oh so worth it)
Wednesday - Chicken cooked in Nando's Lemon and Herb Sauce with rice
Thursday - Sausage, Mash and Peas
Friday - Diet coke chicken and rice
Saturday - Bacon, egg, chips and beans

    Can't wait lol

Now to do the shopping, it's gonna be an expensive one tomorrow cos we seem to have run out of/running out of every toiletry going! Don't know how I let that happen!!

I am shattered now lol!! Been chopping veg for 2 hours lol

Made the syn free gravy (basically potato, carrot, and onion cooked in water, then you add stock pots and gravy browning and blitz, it's really nice!!) It's classed as a small tweak but meh lol

Then prepared all the veg for an epic sunday dinner, then prepared the veg for spag bol for tomorrow night's tea, then made mine and OH's breakfast for tomorrow (just strawberries in yogurt)

DD has a party in half an hour, so once we are home from that the kids need to do their homework, then its sunday dinner time (I can't wait lol)

Hope everyone is having a good day xx

Hello everyone, sorry for lack of updates, I have been so so so so poorly, I had flu and felt like I was dying for like 7 days!! I am still 2 weeks later having trouble with my sinuses, so I have bought a nose spray thing cos nothing else is helping, and my cheeks are in so much pain.

    How is everyone doing?

We have ordered our Christmas food from M+S, not very MSE I know but I love Christmas Day and I go a bit mental we have ordered their turkey gravy and beef gravy, a turkey crown, a venison joint with plum and sloe gin stuffing, pork and caramelized onion stuffing balls wrapped in bacon, and pigs in blankets, and then for pudding raspeberry and prosecco panna cotta terrine, and macaroons
I will get the rest of the dinner from asda (so stuff for mash, and roast potatoes, yorkshire puddings, broccoli, sprouts, parsnips etc)

And I have done 80% of my christmas shopping yay!!! I need to get some things for hampers that I am doing, then I need to start wrapping, I need to check if I have enough paper left from last year or not

Plodding along with the debt, just paying minimums at the min.

I am off to Leeds for the night on friday to see Michael Malarkey in concert (he played Enzo in the vampire diaries if you watched that) he has a lush singing voice and his new album just came out.

Hanson's new christmas album comes out on friday, I am soooooooo excited about that, been waiting 20 years for another one

I am currently cooking gammon for tomorrow night's tea, and tonight we are having chicken jambalaya, I love it!!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend xx

Hey everyone, hope you are all doing well.

I am feeling bad, I've let the money slip a bit it's all over the place at the min, which isn't like me at all. Nevermind, onwards and upwards, I am just gonna stumble on by and hit it hard again in the new year, my mind isn't able to figure it out right now, OH is still having MH issues, so that's my main focus (after the kids of course)

I will be back in full force from Jan I have decided to stop saving for holiday and use that money to overpay, cos when I wasn't overpaying (as the cards were getting enough imo in DD's) it just didn't sit right in my head. So I need to start doing that again, but again will be from Jan, dec is gonna be expensive as it is for everyone lol we have our m+s food order to pay for and me and OH are away to manchester for the night to the Hanson christmas concert (everything is paid for, trains, tickets, hotel and breakfast at the hotel, so it's just spending money we need for the day/night)

I will still be popping in but there won't be any financial successes till new year

Have a good day all xx

Good evening everyone, how are you all doing, I cannot believe it is 19 sleeps till Christmas!!!
We have 100% finished Christmas shopping, we splurged on Black Friday on a Nintendo switch for the family, the kids are going to be so excited.

Pleased to report I hit my 10,000 target for this year and I plan on setting next years for 12,000

It is my work Christmas Do on Friday night, a three course meal and disco, the meal is paid for, and OH is taking me and picking me up so just need drink money, I only plan on having a few, because DD starts swimming on sat (same time as DS) I'm gonna feel rich when I'm not paying 140 every four weeks for swimming lol, and I need to pack my bags cos OH and I go to Manchester on Sunday for a Hanson Christmas Concert (woo hoo) again hotel and train and breakfast paid for so just need spending money, and mil just gave me 50 to get some merch for myself for Christmas from her

Another artist I love is Taylor swift and I've been lucky enough to get tickets to see her next June at Wembley yay

And also DS mentioned gangsta granny was coming to the theatre so I've got tickets for us all for that next May

And we've just bought our panto tickets for Christmas 2018!! It's been an expensive month lol

I hope you are all well xx

Hey Monz, you too, I hope you and your son have a fabulous time!!!

This will probably be my last post before Christmas, we got our shopping order delivered this morning, no disasters which is good lol, we are off to M&S tomorrow to pick our meat up.

House is tidy, all washing is done, so tomorrow once we have the meat will be spent chilling and watching christmas movies, then in the afternoon/evening I will cook the meat and prep the veg

Have a fabulous fabulous Christmas everyone xxx

    Hello everyone

Anyone have any exciting plans for new year?

We never do anything, we aren't big drinkers/big going out people, so I will be chilling out watching Game Of Thrones (I am re watching it) and will deffo be in bed before midnight lol

Me, OH and the kids all have another week off school/work so that is good, need to think of some things to do, DS wants to see the new Jumanji film, and we've just got our 6 free cinema tickets from the bank so will do that at some point this week

Worked out all my money and updated my spreadsheet for 2018, we have added to the debt a *little* bit which I have battled with mentally, but I have made peace with it now, as it was to decorate our sitting room, landing and stairs and get new sofas which we desperately needed, I was starting to hate my house, and I feel so much happier with it now.

Only rooms that need doing is our bedroom and the kitchen, we bought too much paint when we did the sitting room, so instead of getting our money back we swapped the paint for a paint for our bedroom, so we already have that, we bought two Kallax Units (2x4 ones) with our Christmas money and plan on knocking down the fitted (lol, they are the worst fitted wardrobes I have seen in my life) wardrobes and using the Kallax units as temporary wardrobes, then need to strip the walls, treat it (as there is mould/mildew behind them) and paint it, we will need to save for a carpet as annoyingly the current one only goes to the edge of the wardrobes, and it's floorboards under it. Then we will just use the kallax units till we can afford some new wardrobes.

The kitchen just needs a lick of paint, it's a terracotta at the min, but we are going to paint it white (already have the paint) and it will make it nice and fresh and bright, and I want a curtain for my back door (which is in my kitchen) as it lets loads of cold in.

Then that is all the decorating done, we would like to have a new bathroom, but we now also want to move to a bigger house when we are debt free, so we are just going to make do with the bathroom, we have got new towels and accessories and a shower curtain, so it's looking fresh and new lol

While we are off me and OH also need to dig up loads of bushes from the side of our house cos we want to put a bike shed there for the kids bikes and scooters (and lawnmower) to live in, I would like to do that this week when we are off tbh

I am sooooooo pumped for 2018!

And to kick it off I have my first little overpayment, 3.32 from the weekly shop, woo hoo

Have a great day everyone xx

Happy New Year everyone I hope 2018 is fabulous for everyone

Just done the Asda order for tomorrow, usually get it on a sunday but we are off to the panto on sunday so it's coming tomorrow, complete with SW friendly things, as I am starting that again on tuesday need to shift some weight for the holidays in July/August

We've just taken the decorations down, I was expecting to hate it cos in the past I have, but I don't think time I think it is cos the room has been decorated, so it's nice to see the nice walls etc whereas in the past I've hated seeing the walls

I hope everyone has a nice day xx

    Good afternoon everyone,

I don't know if I have mentioned it but DD started her swimming lessons at the same place that DS has them (could cry at the expense lol but they need to swim and I keep looking forward to when I don't have to pay it, I will feel rich then lol), she had her third lesson today, she is doing really well, managed her face in the water for 6 seconds bless her lol
DS is doing well as well, he is working towards his 50m badge.
Once they are both at a decent level (thinking 100m plus then we plan on taking them out of 1-2-1 lessons which are 140 every 4 weeks for both of them, and putting them in a group one down the road which teaches life saving and things like that, that one would be 48 a month for both of them)

Small o/pmt from the shopping went today of 1.35 (I did say it was small lol)

Need to remember to do meter readings tomorrow, we are off to the panto tomorrow, I can't wait to go!! The energy company has upped the DD by 30 which has annoyed me cos we are only 25 in debit, seems daft, I thought I would just let them do it cos I reckon by the end of Feb they will owe us again! Then I will ask them to reduce it, we did use quite a lot in Dec, it was very cold here in Dec

Looking forward to April as I think we are both due a slight increase in wages due to personal allowance on tax code changing, I think OH should be due a small wage increase as well that month, and then in July I am due an increase of 15 a month I think

I hope everyone has a good day/weekend xx

Happy New Year Monz I hope you had a good one xx

Just had the delicious home made Campfire Stew for lunch, it was lush (slow cooker meal, 2 cans of beans, a chopped onion, 2 x chopped peppers, 1tsp chilli powder, 1 tbsp smoked paprika, 3 crushed garlic cloves, 6 tbsp tomato puree, and a lump of pork, cook it on low for six hours, take pork out and shred and then put back in and mix and I usually leave it for another half an hour - free on SW)

How is everyone doing I have had two NSD's in a row woo hoo hoping work this afternoon goes fast lol, I only came back yesterday haha!

Looking forward to the card statements coming in for this months, as I am eager to update the POAMAYC thread lol

Finally got through to holiday company, we have access to our holiday booking on the app, but I couldn't see a payment breakdown or anything on it and I couldn't 100% remember if I had paid to be able to pre book seats, anyway I rang them and they have resent the invoice yay (don't know where the first one went) so I can see the payment breakdown and stuff and can see that I did in fact pay to pre book seats lol, I can't book them yet tho

I hit the Next boxing day sale (had a VIP slot) and managed to get quite a bit of stuff for DD and DS for hols, so don't need to much for them yay just need to get me and OH stuff lol

Have a nice day all xx

OH's bank card has been cloned

Cleaned us out I rang his parents in a panic and they are running up to the bank now to put some money in for us, as we have bills coming out tomorrow for nearly 200!

The bank won't speak to me even though it's a joint account cos it was OH card and not mine, he doesn't get home till 7pm so can't ring till then xx
