We have a what's irritating you thread, and I think we need a thread for things that have made us smile, etc.

Me - well, we have a puppy who is now 8 months. I let her out this morning and was hoping to keep the door open for her to come in. But it was too windy. I was stood by the door waiting for her, expecting to see her come down the steps.

I then heard a tap at the door. She'd come down the steps, which I hadn't seen and tapped to be let in. She also taps to go out.

Jermaine Defoe getting a goal for England. I never thought I would be happy at a Sunderland player scoring for England but he is a class act, he has been brilliant with the young lad Bradley Lowery who has terminal cancer. Sunderland have had their fair share of scummy players lately but Defoe is a class act on and off the pitch.

Johnny Lyndon being interviewed about his new book on the Simon Mayo show. Barmy but brilliant and entertaining and interesting.

Seeing the cherry trees right on the verge of blossom in town today. I'll miss the very start, but there's all next week to look forward to.

Not sure if it is a little like "jury service" but apparently an execution requires 6 witnesses.

Again not 100% sure, but presumably this number excludes any/all medical staff, jailers, prison/state governor, police, priests, lawyers and maybe any family members of the inmate facing execution or those related to the crime(s) resulting in this punishment.

That being said, it looks like 6 members of the general public are required to VOLUNTEER to witness the execution and presumably you need a DIFFERENT 6 for each one ......

... because at present they cannot find enough people for all these to take place (only 1, maybe 2) in the time scale the state of Arkansas had planned

2 things that brought a smile to my grizzled face today

Found 2 pairs of walking boots in the cupboard that I had forgotten that I had bought so it was like getting them for nothing

Bought a pair of trousers today, 2 waist sizes smaller than I last bought, really brought home just how much weight that I have lost
