Those who have received hot drink and cake vouchers, have you spent money in store in the last sixth months and/or scanned your card in store?

I didn't get any vouchers for coffee, just random free desert/20% off a meal...etc vouchers. I've not eaten out at a restaurant at JL ever and for reasons too long to detail wont be either.

I am really not sure if there is a rhyme or reason for this that relates to our spending. I think they probably have a set amount of cash to spare and this equates to a set amount of vouchers to share amongst JL customers.

I'd imagine we are all put into groups either by sirname, area or even time at which we joined and one or a few groups per season are sent vouchers depending on whichever groups are selected at the exclusion of other groups.
How do I think the groups are selected? Who knows; maybe a lottery/chance thing, maybe there is some sort of rotation going on, maybe it's whoever is in that day randomly sends out vouchers to those until they run out and the rest are send higher-expected spend vouchers...

I really think that it relates more to their own needs and purse strings than it does to anything the customer does. It is weird and at times unfair but trying to work it out will just drive you mad.

I've come to the conclusion that it's most likely done by surname, I'm alphabetically towards the end and I always seem to be in the last batch which can be several weeks after the new arrivals get posted on here.

All you that posted a few weeks ago to say you've received them are probably going to throw my logic out of the window now and tell me that you're towards the end alphabetically too

Mine, as hers was, load of pointless vouchers so definitely saving me money as I won't need to take the wife to JH too spend any money.
I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.

I have a sirname beginning with W. Maybe they work by sirname but it wouldn't be in alphabetical order if they are doing this.

My surname starts W but a friend who is K got exactly the same vouchers at the same time. I spent on my card at Christmas, but she didn't. Really dont understand how it all works, hardly seems worth it now, nowhere near as good as it was.

No cake vouchers either. Just a 5 gift card with a 50 spend and 50% off a cook well box. These are my offers valid until 31st May!

Maybe it is all completely random but funny how some ok me people seem to do quite well out of it and others get nothing.
Same with the bags at Christmas and Easter Eggs & other random stuff they've given away over the last few years.

Four of us have these cards and get the drink/cake vouchers. One of us spends at John Lewis - the other 3 don't.

It used to be the case that the spending one got the vouchers, and not the other three - now, though, all 4 get the vouchers and all 4 this time got the 5 off 50 offer.

Why we get them when others don't I have no idea - though I suspect, as others have pointed out, it has a lot to do with the way your account is set up online as regards receiving communications.

I have spent over 300 with John Lewis in the past 6 months but I haven't received any free hot drink and cake vouchers over a year. On the other hand my friend has not spend a penny with John Lewis and received 2 vouchers per quarter in the past 12 months. According to John Lewis Reward advert member should receive at least 3 free drink and cake vouchers per year. Therefore I wrote to John Lewis and complained about it and was told a batch of John Lewis Rewards has been arranged to be sent to me. I finally received my vouchers today, only got 2 vouchers, which is the same as my friend who received on a regular basis, no extra for compensation at all very disappointed. I can't figure out how John Lewis reward work. No logic at all members who spent with them not receive rewards and the one who don't spent with them get regular rewards???and despite their advert clearly state at least 3 vouchers per year.
So for the one who in the same situation as me, make purchase and not receive any reward vouchers then you should write to John Lewis and complain about them fail to honor their promise.

I think everyone is over thinking this - there's no pattern emerging that I can see, so why waste time agonising? Either you get vouchers or you don't, and whether you spend or not seems to have no impact.

But that's par for the course these days with John Lewis - applies to customer service and the infamous 'never knowingly undersold' price promise too. Both of those exist more in fiction than fact.

Yes, they do have their own thread here - but it's not exactly doing them any favours, is it?

    Trustpilot says it all:

Basically, you can no longer trust John Lewis. It's fast losing its customer base (like Waitrose) because of high prices and poor service, and you do have to wonder about its long term future.

I wonder if the move from posted vouchers to digital vouchers will make a difference.
You can now log into your JL rewards account within their app and I can see my vouchers there. Potentially this would make it easier for everyone to get their vouchers

I spend in there every month, not had any vouchers in ages. I have switched over to the app as I dont always remember my card. Will be interesting to see if tea/cake vouchers turn up. If they dont I'll just shop on line but then that makes it alot easier to also shop elsewhere.
Thank you to everyone who has helped me MoneySave
