Aldi Facebook Page Kicking Off after Parking Eye LBAs 19th Jun 13 at 10:04 AM
It seems to be kicking off a bit on Aldi's Facebook Page. Aldi seems to be reaping the rewards of their contract with PE

[TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] (and as their Agents, bringing Aldi closer to having to account for all this).

Major bad publicity. If you can add to it, go for it.

I have just taken a look at Weber Shandwick's website. Can anyone please tell me what this load of nonsense means:-

A full service global engagement and communications agency, we build and protect brand and company reputations; we create movements that change attitudes and behaviour and we help transform businesses and bottom lines.
An engagement world puts a premium on the best creative ideas and we have the best people. Best in their sector; best in their discipline but most of all best at joining it all up...because thatís how our world works. As a joined up full-servicefirm, we understand the complexity of driving conversation and engagement in a world where the lines are blurred and the threats arenít easy to predict.
Whatever our many specialisms, at heart we are storytellers. And in a world where you no longer control the channel or even the message, these stories have to be coherent, come in multiple forms and have their own momentum. So we are not just storytellers, we are designers, builders, directors and conversation starters.
Content Fusion, our bespoke the storytelling framework (sic) helps us build powerful stories combining social media tools and channels with traditional media formats.

When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Love the comment what someone wants to do with the camera and his skull
PPCs say its carpark management, BPA say its raising standards..... we all know its just about raking in the revenue.

On the day that Aldi are awarded "Supermarket Of The Year" award by Which, some party poopers come along and ask some awkward questions about why Aldi's customers are being taken to court by PE.

Well, do Aldi listen to it's customers?

    Seems not!

Have been reading this thread and the Aldi Facebook page, feeling just a little smug that our local Aldi hasn't succumbed to this madness.

Went shopping as normal Friday afternoon, everything normal. Called in for a couple of thing we forgot this morning and the car park has been infested with ParkingEye signs .

Didn't notice if there are cameras but didn't have time to look properly.

The Aldi has been there for years and shares the car park with a Halfords and there has never been any problems with parking even at peek times.

There is a Morrisons next door with its own very large (un'managed') car park and all the surrounding shops have their own parking, so would love to hear Aldi's justification for this.

Aldi have recently got planning permission to build a new store in Carnforth (Lancaster City Council planning ref is 13/00217/FUL) .

This quote is from the 'planning statement':

6.27 The car park will accommodate 66 cars including 5 parent and child spaces and 3 accessibility spaces. Parking for 10 cycles will also be provided. An assessment of the proposed parking provision demonstrates that the anticipated parking demand associated with the proposed discount foodstore can be accommodated within the car park. Given the proximity of the Booths store it is highly likely that customers will also use the adjacent car park when shopping at Aldi and vice versa. There is also parking available in the town centre which shoppers are likely to use when undertaking linked trips.
6.28 A legal agreement attached to one of Booths planning permissions allows its car park to be used by customers for up to 2 hours so as to allow visitors to enjoy linked trips with the District Centre. It is anticipated that the Aldi car park will operate in a similar way and be secured by a legal agreement.
So that's the promise to allow linked trips in the planning application.

The planning decision notice states the following about parking:

    6. No part of the development shall be occupied or brought into use until the car parking areas shown on the approved plan(s) have been provided in full and are available for use. The car parking areas shall thereafter be kept available for the parking of cars at all times.
Reason: In the interests of highway safety and convenience.

    7. The development hereby approved shall not be occupied or brought into use until a Car Park Management Strategy has been submitted to, and approved in writing by, the Local Planning Authority. The Strategy shall comprise the maximum duration of stay and enforcement procedures, which shall replicate the restrictions on the adjacent town centre car park. The car park shall only be operated in full accordance with the approved scheme.
Reason: To allow for the effective and efficient use of the parking areas.
I wonder how long it will be before Aldi decides that only their customers can park there.

The time limit for the town car park is 2 hours by the way.

Edit-nothing on the plans about ANPR cameras and parking signage!

Seems the latest defence from the Aldi supporters is to claim their local branch is busier than ever.

Interesting post by Ian Williamson on the Aldi FB page that PE took him to court and lost, costing them £190 in his expenses AND Aldi also having to stump up £110.

It is a comment to a post by John Butler on Saturday with a picture of a PE sign pointing out the miniscule font used for the T&Cs. It is a fair way down the page.
