RIGP Finance/ Black Horse Finance reclaim 20th Nov 12 at 4:04 PM
I bought a motorbike in December 2000 and paid the balance off with in 2 years. I approached Lloyds TSB requesting PPI reclaim, but unfortunately I don't have the policy number. They won't proceed until I present it! They've said it's archived and give them my full personal details is not enough?! It was 12 years ago. Nationwide BS who I banked with back then, could tell me when my first and last payment went out and also the amounts, but they didn't have reference number. I tried a credit agency no joy. Can anyone give me any pointers!

I don't think a Sar ( a request for all info the bank hold on you ) will help you due to this being 12 years ago, if you could make a claim then you would put the claim into the company that sold you the bike and not Lloyds, as I said I doubt you would get far with this.

Depends on who he had the loan with. I read it as he had a loan with Lloyds to buy a bike, but it might have been black horse or someone else.

If the account is archived, they still have the number somewhere, and it looks like he needs the number for his complaint.

If a sar will get him the number [ do they go through archived records?] then that's the only option I can think of left to him to try.

I had the same problem but got a copy of my historical bank statement which has the direct debit reference on. This is provided by the loan company so will have the account number within this reference. Very old bank statements are archived on ledger but can be retrieved by the personal bankers - not the cashiers or call centres so don't be put off if your bank tells you they don't have older records on file - they do if they know where to look. I got a statement yesterday (3.7.2018) dating back to December 1997 - although I had to go into a branch and sit down with a personal banker. If you're unable to do this, write to your bank and request a copy of an old statement and they should be able to help.
Some of the PPI claim companies don't deal with RIGP finance though so if you're claiming through a company you may need to ring round and find one which will help?
    Good Luck!

RIGP Finance no longer exists. It was dissolved in 2016, and does not appear to have traded for years.

    https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/00384450

It was part of Lloyds Bank. Whether or not there are any remaining records I do not know. To the best of my recollection, RIGP did dealer finance, so any PPI complaint should go to the dealer. And based on the time scales, they would all be dismissed as pre-regulation.
