Renewables: "talking 'bout my generation" 16th Mar 12 at 12:06 AM
Please forgive the corny thread title inspired by The Who, but this post on the bloated 'how do I make the most of it' thread prompted me to initiate a new one...
    Hi Everyone,
I haven't been here for a while, and am interested to see discussion of how much is being generated, rather than what to do with it.

It seems to drop below that figure before it reaches 13.55 (optimum orientation). Final figure was just over 14kWh.

BTW, there was an item about solar generation in Germany on the radio today; you can stream it here:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01d2rvn/PM_15_03_2012/
Just click on the speaker symbol on the left, then drag the time cursor at the bottom to 25mins 30 secs then release.

    Lucky You!
Managed to generate just 78.27Wh today. 0.019 O's

System switched off, thinking it was night time, a few times because of the dark skies and rain.

    Hi guys,

I have a Solis 4g series inverter, I was wondering if anyone has used one of these data logging Wi-Fi sticks?

My wife has just emailed me to say someone has just called to read the solar panel meter. Is this normal (been installed just over 3 years)?

Edit - the company was Morrisons on behalf of BG but we didn't have any notification at all

We will be doing Feed-in Tariff (FiT) meter inspections within the next 12 weeks at XXXXXXXXXX

Within the next 12 weeks, we’ll be carrying out a meter inspection at the above address. As part of the terms and conditions of your Feed-in Tariff agreement, your generation meter(s) must be physically inspected at least every two years. This is to make sure that we hold the correct information for your system and ensures you’re receiving the right payments.

We work with a company called Lowri Beck to carry out meter inspections. If they aren't successful after three attempts, they'll give you a call to arrange an appointment. All Lowri Beck staff carry ID cards, which they'll be happy to show on request. However, if the inspection needs an appointment, for example, the property is usually unoccupied, please get in touch with Lowri Beck directly on 01942 772 047 and quote XXXXXXX

This is indeed normal. If you read your FiT terms and conditions it is buried in there somewhere. I've had mine read a couple of times but generally refuse entry if they "cold call", not least because my meters are in the loft and although I have a fixed ladder the rather rotund gentleman declined the opportunity to climb it, as did the rather older than middle-aged lady. I kindly ask them to go away and come back when they have made a proper appointment so I know they are who they say they are.

All a bit crazy but if you want to continue receiving your FiT you need to grant access every couple of years - just to make sure you're not fiddling the scheme.
