The 2010 crazy clothes challenge 20th Dec 09 at 9:56 PM
    Roll up, Roll up

leave your sanity & credit cards at the door & climb aboard for a one way ride to Thrifty Town

It's the 2010 Crazier than a Crab 100 Clothes Challenge

    The rules are :

You pledge not to spend more than 100 on home clothes for yourself during 2010. If you wish to budget for your OHs or children then that's great & please feel free to update your spends on this thread but due to my own time constraints I will only be noting & updating totals for challengers, not the rest of the family.

I will update totals as often as possible but please would you post any updates in large/bold/coloured font so that it's more easily visible when reading through all the posts, thank you

Home clothes are defined as items that you specifically buy to wear in your own time.

    Qualifying items are :

Tops, shorts, skirts, trousers, jeans, leggings, jumpers, cardies, tunics, dresses, blouses, shirts, hoodies, fleeces, waiscoats & little non essential jackets.

    Non qualifying items are :

Lingerie, essential coats, socks, stockings, tights, swimwear, scarves, gloves & of course shoes & bags - They are accessories which is a whole different kind of challenge which I am not playing at

Total respect to those who's 100 includes all the above, I'll be trying my hardest too

I need different clothes for work as do many others, but I dont think I can suggest a figure for anyone else's spending as it's so varied depending on what job you have. I am setting my own work clothes budget at 100 & will declare my spending on here but this is essentially the 100 home clothes challenge so I will only tell you off for home clothes extravagances

Any gift vouchers or money received does not count within the 100 allowance & you may also boost your budget by selling / ebaying unwanted clothes items ...

However, as the reason for creating this challenge is in order to spend less money on clothes so that more money can be paid off the CC debt, then I would suggest that anyone with debts who makes any extra money from selling should use that extra money towards debt repayment.

I think that covers it so all you need to do now is sign away your sanity & join up .... I know you're scared & shy so I'll go first :

Hello, I'd like to join, I spend far too much on clothes I don't wear.... 100 will focus my mind a lot (and will certainly help me pay off my Next acct a lot quicker if I'm not adding stuff to it constantly).

I prefer a few quality items than matalani/primarni etc, so will set budget at 200, BUT, this includes all clothes for myself. My budget for my son is 100 for the year, he is 2 so grows out of stuff fast, therefore he can have primarni etc, or car boots.

Hello, I would like to put myself down for 0. I am going to be as frugal as possible during 2010 and although I may want lots of nice new clothes I don't need any and I am useless at ebaying so that cuts of that means of supply  and if I get any vouchers in 2010 I am going to make sure they are food vouchers to reduce my food bills. I fell off the wagon big style re this challenge in 2009 but this year I am going to do it properly.

I am going to reduce/reuse/recycle in 2010 and I have a bag of clothes to go to the charity shop, more things that need removing from my wardrobe which I don't wear but I am finding it hard to part with and one big basket and the bottom of my wardrobe full of nice new bagged and tagged clothes which I will move to my wardrobe as soon as they fit. So I don't need anything and I will be scrupulous in sticking to this challenge.

    Good luck everyone

I would have absolutely no problems with this challenge...even including underwear!

Annual spend this year has been no more than 30, for shoes, underwear and clothes.
We made it! One graduated, 2 currently at university, been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk!

I think I should join this one too, spent too much this year on clothes that I (mostly) didn't really need. I'm going to include work clothes as well though - a lot of things I wear at work and home, like tops and jumpers - and shoes, underwear etc. Eek

Right Lula, Count me in. 100 for home clothes is enough. I have loads and ebay a lot. Will need to limit my work spend too as my discount in new job is AMAZING and could easily go a bit mad. Will have a think on that and let you know. Good luck with the challenge all, especially Sarahb123!

Add me in to this. I have more than enough clothes and am hoping I'll ebay those that'll NEVER fit/never been worn much, and keep the ones I'm gonna fit into.
