To save me sending everyone a personal copy of the receipe I am posting it so you can all write it down.

It makes one whiskey bottle and a glass full to taste.

    1/2 pint single cream
    1 tin condensed milk
1 1/2 tsp chocolate sauce (just to colour)
1/4 tsp almond essence (no more)
    3 eggs
1 tea cup of whiskey (cheap is fine)

Put all the ingredients into a bowl (lightly whisk the eggs before adding) Whisk slowly, then bottle and refridgerate.

    Keep in the fridge.

    Enjoy!

I will just say it doesn't keep for weeks. Personally I've never made a bottle last more than a week.

Wouldn't the eggs be a bit iffy after a couple of days.

I've never had a problem. Maybe its the combination of whiskey and sugars that help?

Oooooh that's a different recipe to one I used to use, which had Camp coffee in it, and I don't recall using eggs either. Will have to see if I can find the recipe somewhere

    Baileys?
I went to a party and tried someones homemade Baileys. It was really nice. It had condensed milk and whiskey in it as well as other things. Wished I'd taken the recipe. Any ideas?

    Or try this ...

    ISLE OF ISLAY CREAM

    Makes approx. 1 litre

    INGREDIENTS

    400g tin of condensed milk
170g tin of evaporated milk (eg. "Ideal")
250ml carton of UHT long-life single cream
    250ml of Scotch whisky
Coffee essence (eg. "Camp") to taste

    METHOD

Pour the milk and cream into a 1 litre jug or bowl. Use the whisky to wash out the milk and cream containers, then add it to the bowl. Add the coffee essence. Mix together.

PS. Don't ask how long this will keep for. I don't know. It has never stayed around long enough to go off.

oooh I made this for Christmas and actually have some left in the fridge. Wonder if I dare drink it? Surely the whisky would act as preservative?? I made it v strong.

hi everyone , ive made homemade baileys for years as xmas pressies....

    hicup ...cooks treat .....hick up

found the recipe when looking for a baileys cheese cake recipe , think it was called copycat baileys ....no raw eggs for those that are iffy about them

any way the origional called for cream which imo made it way too thick n heavy , leaving you full after a glass , when blending the cream collects air making it too whiped desserty for me

so i tweeked it just a little

half bottle cheap whiskey , value stuff is fine bout 350mls

can of condensed milk , netto do their own version about 50p cheaper than nestle

300 mls of milk , full fat make it creamier without being too thick

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    1 teaspoon almond extract

    i teaspoon of coffee essence

2 tablespoon of dark choclate sauce ( the stuff for icecream in squirty bottles

2 tablespoons of toffee sauce same as above

this is a really nice recipe and it packs a punch that kinda sneaks up on you ......

can be easily adjusted to suit ,

i like mine with more coffee ...oopps did i put two teaspoons in

my OH likes it more choclatey

if you like it thick ,use half cream n half milk

was planning on doing a mint version by just adding mint essence

this makes a litre of baileys , so make sure your blender is big enough ,

i fill it into a standard 700ml bottle and drink the leftovers as they dont fit

hence the night i make my batches im sozzled

cost using value whiskey and cheap condensed milk should be about
5.00 per litre when making 5 bottles , ie 2 bottle whiskey , 5 cans condensed , plus others should cost 25 and make 5 standard 700ml bottles , if you dont drink the leftovers

it last 2 months in the fridge and will need a good shake before drinking

hope you try and enjoy ,

just had a thought ...dont anyone say thats a miricle either

what about an orange flavoured choclate sauce , would that go ,

probably best to leave out the coffee and almond essence if your going to experi "mint " with different flavours though ie orange and mint
