No one has to use Resolver to complain, as above, simply complain directly.
  • Just one more question, it’s been so long ago I can’t really remember how I ended up with these company’s , only thing I can think off is I had a card with egg, and then somehow either opus or Citibank took over,
    Would that sound right..?

Citibank bought Egg, then NewDay bought all Citi cards and turned them into Opus.

Egg cards can be Citibank or Barclaycard depending on dates or as above. Establish which before you send off complaints.

Remember also Egg cards were largely taken out online where you tick a box to say you want PPI, or post sale in a call where you agree to it so be careful on complaint reasons e.g. claiming you were told you had to have it if you bought online when no sale happened

I had a mortgage with Citibank in the 80's, is it too late to claim PPI?
    Thanks

    You don't "claim" PPI

You establish you had it, then find your complaint reasons, provide evidence to support them and see what they say. It's highly unlikely a mortgage that was presumably paid off 10+ years ago, if not longer, has long been deleted from their records so you'd be relying on your own records.

Also note that PPI wasn't necessarily sold by the lender, if you bought through a broker, for example, if they did sell it to you, they may have arranged it through a third party - and if it was sold by an independent then your complaint is over as they were not regulated back then.

PPI existed in the 80s but was really a 90s product, back then, something like life insurance, critical illness (or similar) or MIG were common, all of which could have been mandatory for the loan (perfectly fine) and none of which are likely to have been miss-sold, indeed, MIG cannot be as you could borrow less or get a bigger deposit to avoid it.
