We have two sets of John Lewis embroidered Egyptian cotton in white for our king size bed plus another full set for the spare bed, but in a different raised pattern.

Along with this we have some random spare sets for single and double beds plus some spare duvets but rarely spare pillows!

Thanks for all your replies. I can see myself going back to the white bedding from M&S, the seersucker, its needs no ironing. I will try not to get swayed by fancy bedding again in the future, I find I am wasting money :)

If we're spending around one third of our lives in bed, shouldn't we be allowed a little indulgence?
That is - if we want to.

If you paid a lot for your purple buttefrly bedding and didn't like it, that's different.

To me, there's nothing nicer (well, maybe there is but Hey! :)) than getting into bed with freshly ironed good quality bedding.

I iron mine because they are high thread count and get creased in the wash.

3 sets. One very brightly coloured almost oriental style print of crysanthemums etc - orange, turquoise, duck egg blue, and white - used in winter because the busy pattern seems warm.
One white with a delicate embroidery in a band down one half in duck egg blue, navy, beige of cherry blossom type flowers with a small bird.
One white with a band of beige flowers in outline in a band at the bottom.

We have a selection of sheets in pale green, pale blue, and beige and these get mixed and contrasted and all of them look good with each duvet cover. I love choosing the sheets each time I change the bed because the 'look' is different each time.

The room itself has wallpaper of duck egg blue with a fine white pattern. I am due to redecorate (I like to do this as an autumn job, so not quite yet, and not every year, of course!) but have no idea what to choose next.
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

    I have 2 identical sets.

They are plain cotton - off white with a couple of broad stripes of soft green and pale grey.

No lace or other embellishments...my autism means I really don't like the feel of anything other then the cotton bedding.

I bought one set in the sales and loved it so much I kept my eye on the store for a few months until I spotted another set in their stock clearance.

Even in the sales they cost a bit more than some sets of bedding I have seen in other stores/catalogues...but it was love-at-first-sight...and I really do sleep better under the plain, unembellished cotton!

Two sets....one-on the bed and one on the wash is all I need...but I have an extra undersheet and an extra pillowcase.

I have a kingsize bed and two sets of plain white bedding. The sheets however are light blue, to match the wall behind the bed.

I somewhat regret the white because when it rains and my cat comes in wanting some fuss, he gets muddy paw prints everywhere... but on the other hand, the white makes the room look airy and bright, so I put up with it!

I've got 3 sets of Bluebell Gray which whilst very pretty, and expensive, annoys me as it comes very crumpled out of the washing machine. I refuse to iron bedding, so it's always wrinkly on the bed.

Have just replaced 2 lilac polycotton bottom sheets with 100% cotton white ones, annoyingly they've shrunk badly in the first wash (on 40 degrees). The frill touched the floor when new, it's now 4 inches off the floor and a real fight to get it to fit the mattress.

I have a gorgeous, expensive, Sanderson set which badly creases even on the lowest spin speed &, like you, I don't want to iron it; it takes ages and still doesn't look lovely so we rarely use it.

I found a cotton seersucker set in M&S for £10 in their sale and it's great - except it's white & we now have a dog who's allowed on the bed.

So I decided to put the M&S one away for a while & bought two sets from a CS - but originally from Next - at £3.50 each set. They're patterned & not something I would have chosen had I been buying them from new but they're quite nice, wash well and they do the job.

We've had most of the sheets for years and are all taupe/beige/cream hotel quality from US. We've always had a v deep mattress and they fit beautifully and were so much cheaper than buying here as once upon a time, they were considered specialist sizes. They wash well and still look as new.

Wow, that sounds tedious. Mine are 1000 and find that if I don't over crowd the washing machine and do a quick steam cycle at the end coupled with a quick 'on to the line' it deals with most of the creasing. Besides i kinda like the creased look.

I don't like the 'creased look' - at all.

    I don't overcrowd the machine.
I whip the bedding straight out of the machine and on to the line as soon as the cycle has finished.

Personally I don't find ironing tedious as there is something positive at the end of it.
    That'll be non-creased bedding.
