    Hiya,

Can you please add me to save £2,400? I'm a student so twelve grand is a pipe dream and I also have some debts to pay off, but I think if I make some cut backs I can find £200 a month! I already have £450 in savings so it would be a really healthy pot by then!

    Thanks and Hi :T
    Debts Jan 2018: £0/£1,200 personal loan, £118.29/£605.71 CC/SC Savings Jan 2018: £450
    2018 Challenges: Save £12k in 2018 #72 - £60/£2,400, Virtual Sealed Pot Challenge #17 £15.61/£100

  • Hi Slowlyfading, I'm trying to be a little more proactive this year with regards to saving and I think your thread is a great idea! Can you put me down for 6000 please.
    Cheers ! Bassking

  • Hi all,

I'm pretty much at the end of my debt repayment journey at last, and ready to start building some savings. I have a few big expenditures coming up in 2018 - a trip to Vegas later in the year being one of them, so £12k isn't going to be realistic for me. If I could be sitting here with £6k to my name this time next year, that would make me very happy. Anything over that is a bonus. So, can I be added to the challenge with a £6,000 target.

Why can you only save 6k a year? What about your NHS pension? Do you not contribute to that along with the uk taxpayer as well (quite generously)?

Savings should also include pension contributions.
  • Please sign me up for £12k. First-timer at this but I'm going to try my best. A grand a month – how hard can it be?
    Make £2,018 in 2018: £0
    Save £12,000 in 2018: £0

I will throw my hat into the ring if that's ok with a target of 6K. I'm going to try and reverse myself this year and put the savings away first rather than at the end of my pay month and see if I can stick to a stricter budget than I have been.
