Holiday Company Quoting Wrong Flight Times

On Bank Holiday Monday I booked a short break with a holiday company over the phone. I checked the flight times and was informed the flight was at 08:40am in December, after getting off the phone I went on to Easyjet's website and the 08:40 was not listed only 06:00. tried to ring customer services and were shut. Started a live chat within the hour before I received any documentation by email. it has taken the company two working days to respond to me and now request £50 to change the date.

Do I have any rights I am not happy to be charged an extra £50 as a single traveller I am already penalised?

What do the terms and conditions of your booking say? In general, flight times aren't guaranteed.

when I found out about the error I did not have any written communication with them I was still waiting for it. the company have published the incorrect departure time. when I was messaging Easyjet they had not made a booking.

Where did you hear about this short break in the first place?

I am aware that I need to give you as much details as possible. the problem is the information is at home and I am at work.

the company is Newmarket Travel, the rep told me the dates and flight times over the phone. as I am flying to Berlin and Easyjet flies to both airports that is when I noticed there was no flight at that time on a Tuesday it goes all other weekdays at 08:40. the problem is I do not want a 6am flight.

when I get home I am planning to speak to Customer Services and wanted to know if I had any rights as the holiday flight times given to me. they have now changed the website to the 6am departure time.

the only info I can find when I google Newmarket Travel is a long thread of complaints on tripadvisor. Who are they, how did you find them, why did you book through an agent?

they are a well known travel company that do escorted trips and as I am single I wanted the company of others. I know people who have been with them and had no problems and advertise in the Mail group of newspapers. I booked directly with Newmarket so I could ask questions and I do not live near an independent travel agent as I am a single travel.

IIRC they're a renowned newspaper/magazine advertiser renowned for switch & bait and trying to make up 'packages' vie low-cost airlines.

OP's only real hope is if any documentation shows the 08h40 flight (and even then cancellation might not be a right) or if a switch can be made direct on Easyjet website to a later flight.

thanks to all that have replied, unless they cancel the £50 to change my holiday I definitely will not be booking with them again.

It could be easyjet juggling their schedules. They previously operated into Berlin Schonefeld (SXF) but since taking over some of the old Air Berlin slots will be splitting their operation into and out of Berlin Tegel (TXL). They just seem to have picked certain old SXF served routes and dropped them into the TXL schedules. Newmarket may not have been able to update their flight information linked to their tours yet.
