PIP reassessment.

Hi all, just wondered if anyone had any views on this.I went for my assessment from DLA to PIP last January, and was awarded standard rate on both components until 2020 after being on high rate for both indefinitley. I decided not to challenge this as I really didn't have any more evidence.
Now though we (my husband and I) have been put into sheltered acommodation. We have handrails, low light switches, high sockets, a shower with a chair and various other adaptations. We also have a support officer who calls daily and a care ring alarm. A lady from the social department of the local council came out and assessed us and we were allocated one within 4 months.
My question is do you think this will make a difference when my award comes up for review? I don't even know if it's worth mentioning as they took no notice of the main parts of my disability. My carer seems to think I should put it on the form. I know it's a bit early but this time I'm trying to get as much info as possible before I enter the lions den! Thanks for any input x

Items such as bathroom / toilet rails and a shower seat are classed as aids for the relevant PIP descriptors, and would score you points for that activity (if you haven't already been awarded points).

Are you familiar with the PIP points system?

And the way PIP is assessed?

An enhanced award requires 12 points.
How many points were you awarded last January?
Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.

Yes Alice, I looked it all up before I went for my assessment. I was awarded 10 points on both components.
It's more a case of not wanting these adaptations to lose me points, as yes they help me & my carer but the disability is still there. I've read about the short forms to fill in and some say to put no change and others say to put any changes down.

You had some great advice from Alice. The adaptions should not lose you any points but evidence will still be needed.

Don’t be fooled by the shorter version form. My advice is to put as much info down as possible. Use extra paper if needed and send your evidence with the form. You have plenty of time to gather your evidence but remember that reviews are done 1 year before the award is due to end.
  • Bit of advice needed..

I!!!8217;ve been asked to fill out a pip review and an Esa work capability form all within space of few days of each other. do you no how long I will have to wait to hear for the DWP to decide weather I need assessments or face to face consultations but I submitted medical evidence from the doctor that states I wouldn!!!8217;t be able to attend face to face assessments

It’s not the DWP that decides who has assessments, it’s the assessment providers. Most people have them, it’s rare to have a paper based assessment. There’s no timescales as it depends on the backlog in your area.

You really should have asked for a Mandatory Reconsideration if you were on high rate of both components of DLA.
I had my face to face 6 weeks ago, I was on DLA standard care and high mobility.
When I phoned them they told me my letter was ready to go out this week but informed me that I have been awarded high rate care and standard mobility.
I sat in my wheelchair throughout the assessment, never once did she ask me to WALK, yet decided that I am able to walk 50 metres!!
My OT assessed me for housing 2 months ago and said I am Mobility Grade 3 which shows I can barely walk at all...she had asked me to walk from my chair to my downstairs toilet.
It is absolutely ludicrous and as soon as the letter is in my hands I will be asking them what they are playing at, reducing the mobility component on what proof, especially as I sent them the OT!!!8217;s recent assessment and plenty of specialist reports with my application.
Too many people are giving up and not fighting for what they are legitimately entitled to because they can!!!8217;t bear to face it.
If you are genuinely disabled you should not be afraid to stand up to these people.
I suffer from extensive osteoarthritis throughout my body, I have a carer and I am having to move from my home of 20 years as I can no longer get upstairs to my level access shower, or my bedroom..my lounge is now my bedroom.
I really don!!!8217;t need this on top of everything I am having to cope with, and I refuse to let them get away with it.
Good luck to anyone in the same situation, and please fight this. X

From the date of the decision, if it's a review.
  • I’m being told two things some people are saying it’s from the new decision date and some are saying from when they sent the renewal form to me
