Looking for some clarity regarding a WDTV media player.

Friend just gave me a WDTV live hub.

My PC and router are upstairs. WDTV will be downstairs. Google tells me this can be used as a nas drive to put media on wirelessly.

Question is. My pc is wired to the router and has no wifi. Will I still be able to access the WDTV live on the wireless network?

    Thanks
    Sigless

With high speed fibre being offered by many providers I understand these speeds when connected by wire are much higher than ADSL.
However do these higher speeds then work via wifi

Yes they do, but can hit the upper limit of your Wifi speed in some cases.

ADSL has a maximum of around 16Mbps

Fibre is usually between 30Mbps - 80Mbps, their are trials of +100Mbps in some areas

"Wired" networks run at either 100Mbps (megabit network) or 1000Mbps (Gigabit network)

Wifi usually run at 54Mbps to 150Mbps

Originally the slowest part of your network was the ADSL internet connection. Now with Fibre it's is more likely to be your Wifi which is the slowest part of the network.

    *more info*
The standard for Wifi is called "IEEE 802.11" and it usually has one or more of the following after it "a/b/g/n" "n" being the fastest.

If you really want to know what all the speeds are look here:
