I sued Facebook for defamation in a campaigning lawsuit after it published 100s scam 'get rich quick' ads with my name & face in. I settled in return for 2 things, both LAUNCH TODAY

a) New Facebook Report-Scam-Ads Tool. This is unique to UK. Click the three buttons on the ad, then click 'report'. The new dedicated anti-scam ads team will look at them & take 'em down. I call it social policing. Together, those of us who can spot a scam, can help those who can't.

b) New Citizens Advice Scams Action Project. Paid for by £3m from Facebook. It gives 1on1 help for victims of scams and people who think they may be being scammed.

It's not a complete fix, but it's a great first step. Full details & contact info here: Martin Lewis, Citizens Advice and Facebook launch major initiatives to fight scam ads

This only applies to Facebook, so what about other sites showing ads using the Martin Lewis name and reputation?

Such as the one currently being shown on xe.com?

I've just received an email from"Rose Hill" yxdarpc@jimincma.art spoofing a Daily Mirror page and with an article by Rose Hill in which Martin Lewis endorses Bitcoin. It links to a spoof Mirror web site, again featuring Martin's strong recommendation to invest in Bitcoin. I'm not fooled, but you can see many will believe it and follow the advice.

  • Nice one Martin! Can anyone tell me if the Bitcoin dealer 'Brokerz' is a genuine set-up or a scam? Likewise Buysmartbits?
Only I've put over $250 but they are asking for a lot of personal details which I'm not comfortable to give. So any advise will be much appreciated!
