Hi I have been given a now tv box and just want to use it for catch up tv like i player etc.

i understand i have to register it and sign up for a film pass or whatever
But after i have signed up is it really that easy to cancel after the ""free trail"" with no issues down the line due to it being card payments and not direct debit payments?

    Thank you

    That's what I do...

Yes it is very simple to cancel the pass so there are no recurring charges.

However I find the NowTV box a tad sluggish especially with BBC iPlayer. As it's our sole device for telly being legally license free I'm considering a more powerful box.

Still it's a bargain at £7.99 [after Quidco].

    Cheers

I've had my NowTV box nearly 2 years now, you don't need to pay anything if you just want it for catch up tv. You don't have to pay to subscribe then cancel either, unless you want to take advantage of the chargeable stuff trial.
  • Hello there,

I'm hoping someone will point me in the right direction. I need to cut back expenses so Sky TV has to go. I'm looking for cheaper alternatives and the NowTV has caught my eye! Does anyone have any good feed back on this? What will I need to do, do I need to have an aerial or will it go through the dish?

Please treat me as a dummy, I have had nothing but sky before.

    Many thanks in advance

All that is required is a 2.5Mbps line speed. But please note there are no free live channels on Now TV, such as BBC, ITV or channels 4 & 5, as its a media streamer not TV box.

Fed up with the Sky rip-off so looking at all alternatives.
So, should Now TV be a consideration? Does it provide a good quality service? Basically, I would only want it for golf and a bit of tennis - no football.

    Same situation.
Have found Now TV box to be perfectly fine.

You could also look on ebay at Now TV box with plex. You will find Now TV boxes with full Sky package loaded.......

I have also been looking at Now tv and have read that the current box is of HD quality but a new version is on its way later this year which has Full HD.

Whether this is a major factor is up to you but given the cheap price of the current box it's probably worth giving it a go regardless.
