    They are illegal to use on pavements (as is the case with normal bikes) but they can be used on roads and cycle lanes provided that the bike has pedals that propel it; the electric motor won’t assist you when you’re travelling more than 25 km/h (15.5mph); and the power doesn’t exceed 250 watts.

    Off-road bikes which can go faster are illegal even if they have a switch to limit the electric assistance to 15mph.
