Building Insurance for Tyneside Flat

Hello,
I am hoping for some advice on buildings insurance for a first floor Tyneside flat I am buying. If you have one, how have you set up your buildings insurance? Joint policy with the other owner? Only insure your own and the roof/foundations as applicable? Do you ensure the freehold of the other flat as a landlord? I'm so confused! My mortgage lender is talking about a flying freehold indemnity policy- does anyone have this?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Lottie
