That is good to know Abba! We have 10 windows and 2 doors but two of the windows are just tiny hoppers. Three of them are massive though so I'm sure it all evens out. If it comes in under 5k then we will do it for sure.

My husband had done a lot of work in his house before at 'mates rates' so I've no doubt he'll give us his best price while still making some cash.

    Morning all!

Another day, another direct debit. All going in the right direction!

I have £41.50 to book my son into a new class that he's starting next week, £39 on my MOT on Friday and £35 at the chiropractor on Thursday... and my spending account balance is £40.69 until pay day in 8 days. Hmm... not so great!

However, the MOT and son's class start up fee could plausibly come from the savings account so i won't worry too much about having to relieve the account of some money. We were doing so well this month, but there's some things you just can't plan for.

It's still early yet, but i'm wondering when my husband's wages will arrive this week. Today? Tomorrow? Thursday? Who knows? :(

My husband is working this weekend and that will net us some extra cash so that will get shoved into the savings when it comes in. It's been a good couple of months for extra funds. Long may it continue :)

Me too, kindofagilr. No sign yet, so i'll just see when they turn up! I'm not worried, and I place imaginary bets with myself to keep it light hearted else my rage might just get the better of me!

I'm so excited about the house plans, it's been a long time coming but we'll get there. It's just exciting that the time has come to finally start looking at it properly. Although now I have the bug I'm pinteresting like a maniac. It'll be at least next summer before the build work will begin but it'll take quite some time to plan, cost and get permission (plus save and organise the rest of the financing) so will get started figuring out what we want/ can afford now.

£1.42 on Prolific today - once they clears i'll be over £5 so might just cash out then. I get frustrated waiting for it to build up to £20. It used to build up so quickly but it's so slow these days and I'm busier so i probably check it 50% less than i used to. Every little helps though!

5.32pm and still no wages. I'm guessing Thursday lunchtime. This week i think it's delayed because they've been paying so much out in wages over the last couple of weeks (because of the overtime) and they are waiting on invoices being paid to cover another high wage week. It's truly like a child playing Post Office, not a person running a business.

Don't talk to me about Prolific :o

I'm just assuming this is the case but if your husband works for a small company cash flow can be a killer. The boss is very lucky that everybody seems to be so accommodating about their late wages. At least there seems to be some good overtime available and as my nan would say, your hubby is able to make hay while the sun shines :D

You have such a realistic attitude about your building works and the timescale. I'd be itching to knock walls down myself by now and then wondering why it had all gone wrong. :rotfl:

Hope you're enjoying half term with your little ones. xx

No half term this week for us Tea- we are in Scotland so we had three days off school last week instead. It won't be long until the Easter break either!

You're right about the cash flow thing - we have no doubt that he will get paid eventually, and if it became a problem (i.e. missing bills because he wasn't getting paid) then we'd be kicking up about it but a couple of days won't kill us. His boss is just in no way a businessman nor does he think ahead about anything. It's silly. My husband will always take the overtime while he can get it!

We are totally itching to start ripping down the walls and get cracking but i don't want to live in a building site for 18 months :) Right now, it's a functional space but only just. We have a great space in our house and it has so much potential, but it's a shame the money doesn't back up the renovations we want to achieve RIGHT NOW. :) Impatient is my middle name.

Did a gym class last night and have another one tonight - it feels good to be exercising again after a few weeks off it. Now just need to curb the snacking and increase the water to get me feeling better again. I feel like i might be coming down with something so trying to do what I can to avoid illness!

Added another £3.50 into my sealed pot to tick things along, but no more payments to debt or savings due to the latecoming wages!

That's why I'm so bothered - nothing about covering bills, i just want to cover my fix for making debt payments :) haha

Just had a run of decent PA surveys - £5.80 in the last hour :) Once they're approved, that'll take me over £10.

I am all excited or your plans, will you do before and after pics please :) I love looking at things like that, I had so many plans in my head for our house, but we have decided to move when debt free instead, we are going to save a little bit and get the bathoom redone though (cheaply but nicely cos it won't be for 4 - 5 years till we move) as it needs doing and no point waiting till we put the house up for sale to do it xx
