30 Hours Free Lost to Nursery Extra Hours Charges

Hi,
So now our child is 3 years old, I was looking forward and had planned financially for the 30 hours free childcare that will start in September. My expectation was that we would save the £75 per day incl. lunch (£60 after tax free childcare is deducted) we currently pay for her to attend 3 days a week.
However, I have been told by our child's nursery that the 30 hours can only be used from 9am - 3pm and so we will still have to pay the remaining 4 hours at £15 per hour, so £60 per day, plus a lunch allowance of £6. So this will effectively work out at £66 per day, which is MORE than we currently pay. So the benefit of 30 free hours is completely removed.
Can this be right? Presumably this affects many people. Does anyone have any advice? Perhaps someone knows of a well paid job that will allow us to attend just between the hours of 9am-3pm with say an additional hour either side, taken off that for travel in London.

The 30 hours is for the full week., 6 hours per day. It is your choice to only use 3 of those days and you don't have to.
It is your choice to only use 18 of them
Providers do not even have to offer it and if they do then they can be flexible. You are entitled to a maximum of 1140 hours over 38 weeks. Some providers may reduce the weekly amount to stretch over more weeks but sounds like the provider offers 6 hours per day for 5 days and does not vary that. That is their choice.
Your choice is to find somewhere that fits in with your working pattern
It sounds like the other 4 hours that you want is childminding rather time spent as part of EYFS0 -
Nurseries are not paid very much to provide this 'free childcare'
They can dictate when you can use it, unfortunately is not just a bank of hours to offset as you wish0 -
From recent experience some nurseries restrict the hours you can use the free childcare, but others are more flexible and you can use it during different times of day.0

Unfortunately most childcare providers can set the rules as to how they will let you use the 30hrs. It’s is also common practice for meals to be charged as this isn’t something covered by the funding.... however I understood it to be that the 30hrs you could use over the year rather than the previous 15 which could only be used term time0
