Dumpling, would you be able to talk to the school about an LEA tutor. They should provide them for children who can't attend through illness so Becky should qualify I would have thought.

Holly, I hope your dr helps.

TA, you must be so proud. What is the next step for dgd, will she be applying for the Royal Ballet School or something similar. I had a friend who went to the Italia Conti school, she could also have gone to the Royal Ballet and tbh I think she made the wrong choice and went off the rails a bit.

We had a very busy weekend. On Saturday we drove to the Norfolk coast, picking up DS and Dw on the way so that we could walk some of the Norfolk Coast path. I was only going to walk the first section of 6 miles because that is usually enough for me but I felt so good that I continued and did 10 miles then caught the coast hopper bus back to the car and picked the others up after they completed 12 miles. I was proud of myself but I think it was a mistake because I still feel tired.

It was probably added to be the fact that we then had to drive to Heathrow to pick up DD from her Japan flight at midnight. We took her home and stayed the night there and spent the day with her. We dropped her off at City airport last night as she was about to fly to Aberdeen for work.

So I think a fairly quiet day is in order, a little gentle housework and grocery shopping perhaps and of course some sewing.

    Morning all,

We've had a good weekend,DGC stayed Sat night but DS took them to a friends at teatime, and before that they were playing on the new bike & scooter he bought them. DH and I took the opportunity to go into town and had some lunch out,and yesterday afternoon we went to a music event with friends at the pub which used to be our local before we moved here. Its been done up and is really nice. The 'do' was for the local childrens hospice and the place was heaving. We saw people we havent seen for about 3 years so we really enjoyed it,and there were pasties on too so I didnt need to cook when I got in :D

I'm off to do a bit of shopping in town-havent been all over the school holidays ,partly because I was decorating, and last week the bus wasnt running for 3 days.Meatballs for tea.

Holly-hope your GP can prescribe the meds you need x

Dumpling, last year in the park with DGS I got talking to 2 mums(different occasions) who did home schooling and they were very happy with it,although the children were younger than Becky. They also had a local group that they went to for support and socialisation so the kids still had contact with others and didnt become isolated. One of the older boys did flexi school where he did go in to a school 2 (I think) days.As I used to work in a school ,I was very interested to hear the mums viewpoint, but the children were lovely and both groups were happy to play with DGS who was much younger.Food for thought for you both, and I hope you work something out x

    Happy Monday all x

    Morning all.
Mr Fix It and I were also in the sleepless club last night :(. We were both downstairs at 2am watching a re-run of Q time, we did go back to bed but still slept badly, so we may both need a nanna nap later.
It was lovely and sunny earlier so I put a load in the WM and stripped the bed, now it's gone over cloudy and looks very watery :(. Well, I'll still peg it out and hope for the best.
I don't know what today will bring...... the plasterer I hope ! I will probably be pottering about putting things back into their proper places. If I have any energy I may start to wash down the walls in the kitchen, ready for painting. Or I may just put my feet up and read my book/watch some TV that we have recorded. Decisions, decisions...... Haven't even decided what we will have for tea either. Note to self " must pull myself together !" :rotfl:. I do know that we will have to eat up the last of the strawberries, so that's pudding sorted at least !
Holly good luck with your GP appointment.
Dumpling I'm sure you will make the correct decision
TA another disorganised one here. I'm someone who wants a messy job done before it starts !
Hope everyone has a good first day back at work. Sending healing thoughts to the poorly and hugs all round. Take care.

    Morning all,

As predicted Grump hasn't gone to work. He's much better but hasn't gone. By the side of me is a pile of car brochures but he's got no chance of another car if he won't do a full week at work. He hasn't done a full week since he started...then he moans he's skint....

    I've got Diva today. She's grown in a week! She's louder too.:rotfl:

Dumpling a family I know home educated but their Mother was university graduated and was well up to the task. The children did go onto university themselves so did well out of it but were like coiled springs. They missed social integration. Personally Dumpling, I wouldn't entertain the idea if your not qualified to a high standard. What if Becky doesn't understand something and you don't either? Can you guarantee she will sit with you and do her work? You will have to balance the stress of getting her to school against the stress of getting her to sit down with you.

Sorry if I'm being negative but that's how I've seen it.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

    Morning

Another gorgeous day here today hoping it holds then I can sit out in the garden when I get back from Mums. Actually got a tee shirt line sitting out on Sat so must have been good :) Got a lot of prep to do before tomorrows work event so will try not to hang around too much after lunch but guilt kicks in so will likely have to sort it out this evening.

Going to a new restaurant near mum which we found when her usual one was closed. The food is lovely and its a really quirky place. Didn't think mum would like it but she asked if we could go today...wonders will never cease :D Its near a fab butchers so may need to nip in and get a few bits.

Holly fingers crossed for the GP visit today. Try to talk to him about your sleep or lack of it too 2hrs is no use to anyone.
Lainey Hope the bath goes well :D Im stuck with "that" song in my head again :D
TA sounds like you have a rising star there :) good luck with the kitchen I remember the pain

Have a great day all :A
  • Good morning from overcast, drizzly France:(

DH & I have been up for a couple of hours but haven’t been able to do any decluttering as DSis was still in bed & not available for supervising duties :o She does get very cross when things are not done exactly ‘her’ way & as we are only at the start of the process we didn't want an argument immediately:( DH has cleaned the fire & brought down a chest from the attic & I have had my daily fix of Angry Birds 2 :rotfl:

Yesterday I was doing the washing up, after DSis had cooked a lovely roast dinner, & managed to break a glass in such a way that I sliced open a knuckle on my right hand (& yes I am right handed:o) blood everywhere but DSis managed to bandage it all up very nicely. Unfortunately no more washing up & everything is awkward  hey ho :rotfl:

DSis’s son is also here until Friday - not sure if it is a good idea as they argue quite a lot but I am sure it will all come out in the wash :rotfl: He has just crawled out of his pit :rotfl:

    Hoping to start soon :o

Bon journee everyone especially Holly & Dumpling.

Mrs SD I sympathise about having your dominant hand out of commission; I have had severe tendon pain in my left thumb (I'm left-handed) for ages, and it just keeps getting worse. I now can't grip anything in the "normal" way with that hand. :( I keep hoping it will get bored and start playing nicely again, by so far, no dice.

Mr LW has kindly blitzed the bathroom :A and we need to do a visit to @ldi in a bit - I think he's scaring himself up some lunch at the moment, so we'll probably go when he's had that.

I was hoping to get my Dog Behaviour Training course finished and my exam taken this week, but it's starting to look decidedly unlikely; specially with Dusty Dog due in on Friday lunchtime.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Nelski I was watching a programme last week ( was on late ) about drama for kids at the BBC in the 70's. Can you guess what excerpt they showed........ Yes it was Jacky and that damn theme tune !!! I had trouble sleeping after that with it going round and round in my head ;). Now you've done it again...... " On white horses let me ride away......... " :rotfl::rotfl:.
MrsSD Hope your hand is ok. Some people will go to such lengths to get out of the washing up :rotfl:.
Judi Please tell Grump that the sun is shining here today, well in between the clouds. But at least it isn't raining !!
We've had a call from the plasterer who will be here sometime this afternoon, knowing our luck we will be last on his list as usual.
I have found some energy from goodness knows where, so I have stripped the spare bed as the washing is drying quite well and then I shall put up more curtains. It's a pain when you have so many windows to do. Never mind I will keep on going, slowly. Right WM has finished so I shall go and hang the spare bedding out. See you later xx

  • If there is anyone reading along who is thinking about having a new kitchen fit then a word of advice - DON'T!!!! I hate being in a disorganised mess and, despite my best laid plans, I am! I can't find anything, I am sick of climbing over boxes, I am fed up already of carrying washing up to the bathroom to do and I hate being so disorganised meal making! The electrician has been here since 8.00 and it's been almost constant banging ever since. Aaaargh! It's over 30 years since we had our original kitchen replaced and it was made easier as I was over 30 years younger!!

SNOOZER- DGD is only 9 so time yet for her to lose interest in ballet and performing arts, despite the time and money it's cost up to now! One of her friends from ballet (11) has just got a scholarship for a ballet school further south, only coming home every other w/e, and DD really hopes our "Margot" doesn't get similar ideas! It upsets her to even think about it.

Right I am off now to find my earplugs, despite escaping a lot of noise when I nipped down to Sainsbobs this morning for my medication and much needed fridge supplies.

    Take care all xxx
