Seem to be having an account tidying day here!

I have set up some directs debits to savings accounts and figured that although I am paying everything to credit card bills...if I don't set up savings too then next time we need to make a purchase we will be stuck and use the credit card again! Its only for £25 into each per month...but I set up one for household, one for presents, one for school trips and one for the car...Once the card is cleared in a year or so I can send alot more to them... that's the plan anyways...

Today I culled some accounts... £24.24 saved by cancelling 3 x lottery subscriptions (we never win anyway)
    £8.98 ebay sales
    £3.83 bank interest
£45 per month saved cancelled school clubs (only counting it this month)
£41 saved by cancelling WI subscription (haven't been since June)
£24.99 per month saved cancelling ds2 swimming lessons (only counting it this month)
£55.40 saved by opting out of annual green waste collection (only counting it once) - i will incinerate weeds in future.
    £12.36 extra sale

so I am standing at £350.14 for february so far...

apparently I am on a mission! £11k left to find...

I cannot decide whether or not to draw the cash out each week for groceries and put the change into a jar for christmas OR to set a budget each week and send the difference to the credit cards / savings... really unsure which method is best... Some of my 0% credit card balances will be coming into effect over the next few months...then interest will be high - unfortunately.

I did have a mini brainwave earlier and added my debit card to p@ypal / amaz@n instead of the credit card... so now i have to ask if we can afford it before hitting checkout... that should save the amaz@n prime delivery guy a few trips up our garden steps...haha

That's a really good idea:T. It's so easy to be lured into buying online with a credit card without really counting the long-term cost. Been there, done that:o. Maybe you'll be buying so little now you can cancel Amazon Prime and save some more money:j. That is unless you need it for the other features and not just delivery.

    Hi
My total for Jan was £52.63.
I think last month was a bit inflated with time off over Christmas. I'll go for £2 a day for Feb x

Thanks. Sadly my husband orders stuff on @mazon ALL the time! We easily save the cost of prime every month versus postage fees  BUT we also use it for TV (Jermy Clarkson for the 3 petrolheads in the house) and at next renewal I am an NUS student...so half price prime :D (all for a small £9 course I booked through groopon...12 months of savings NUS style and a course to enjoy too) :T

I still plan on buying very little from there now.

    so today

I made £50 selling an old smartphone to a colleague at work. It was in pretty good condition and I sold it for less than I bought it for secondhand as she desperately needed a new phone and didn't want to be tied into her current contract for another 2 years.

The look on her face was priceless and I am happy to have earnt some money and to make her happy too.

I pointed out all the flaws on the phone, let her take it home to play with to make sure she was happy with it and she is. :T

cashed out £3.21 on curious cat (smartphone app)
