    Should I apply? 11th Sep 18 at 8:21 PM
    Hello,

I've done an eligibility checker for Aqua, CapitalOne, Barclaycard and they have all said I'm not eligible. On the other hand, American Express has given me a 9.5/10 chance of getting a card. Should I apply?

If you think you'd like the card, yes.

I like the card but how come Amex will give me a card but other CREDIT building cards won't? I've never had a credit card before and I want to build my credit.

Then I would try one of the sub prime lenders.

Try another eligibility checker and also your own bank.

Does their eligibility checker check my file/score and determine if I will be accepted or not? Or do they just determine it based on the information I have given?

It soft checks your file and the info you supply.

No one ever checks your score.

So do you think I should apply for Amex then? I've never had credit before so I'm unsure why they've given me a 9.5/10 out of 10.

    Hi everyone,

Just a quick update - I applied for the card and they couldn't give me an instant decision and will get back to me within 10 days.

Quick update - They've asked me to send 2 documents of proof of ID to continue with my application. Is this a good thing or bad thing?

    Depends

At this stage they are wanting to verify information you have provided on the application

It’s a good thing, they wouldn’t waste there time asking for ID just to decline you. As long as you gave correct information on your application you can expect to accepted.

I suspect if you call and ask them they will tell you it’s approved pending ID.

    Final Update -

I just spoke to a guy on the phone about verifying my documents to see if if the pictures I uploaded were okay and he said yes then congratulated me for being accepted.

Uploaded them. I don't know about the limit yet, but I know it will be low since it's my first ever credit card. I guess I'll have to wait and I assume it will be with the documents that come with the card.

It won’t help others in determining what limit they’ll get.

    Since everyone is different...

No it won’t help others asses what limit they will get but perhaps it gives an indication of what things can be looked at even if the person was generally looking at credit builder cards.
