Custom charge for Cash Gift? 18th Dec 17 at 7:05 PM
    Hi,

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask but I couldn't see a better place. My family have decided to send our Christmas cards and some cash from the USA to me in the UK and Royal Mail are charging me VAT on it.

Is this correct? I'm aware that gifts are chargeable over 34 but does cash in a card count as a VAT applicable gift? For reference, the total they've sent is $160 (approx 120). They've also unfortunately sent it as one lump of cash even though it's for multiple people.

    Regards,

    Sheep
