I got a brown fat face cardigan yesterday for £2. It looks new and has some nice cut out detailing. Then last week I found a vintage blue floral dress for £5. I used to buy lots of stuff from charity shops and had some amazing deals but I am trying to cut back, no more books and less clothes.SPC #062

Hope is not a strategy ...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!0 -

Blimey! Hit a Jackpot in Nelson (Lancs) - British Heart Foundation really came up trumps - not just 4 flavours but knowledgeable staff & shockingly reasonable pricing!
Denby Maplewood, 4 cups, 2 saucers 2 bowls & 4 small plates
Imperial blue, 2 mugs
Denby 2 teacups-&-saucers, Blue Jetty slab side shape but matt blue exterior & glossy Imperial Blue inner. (Far too modern for my reference books but credible basestamp! Can't Quite convince myself it's Reflex - no Tardis patterning anywhere [yep, there is such a Denby colourway] but the photos & the size (tiny, 250ml) are credible & there's nothing else looking remotely like, and the saucers could be genuine Imperial Blue saucers for not-teacups [Oh, Denby...])
All for £8.50! And a nice cardboard box to carry it all home in & loads of tissue to pack it with.
There was even an Ode coffeepot - with a minor chip to the spout, but visible, so I left it despite it being half price. (The Acquisition committee later relented at the idea of a genuine Ode lid, but we had left by then!)
Still trying to ID that pattern & about ready to bean Denby web design imps - "how to create a mindful kitchen" - Honestly! Tosh. My understanding of mindfulness (other than a profound mistrust of what this commercialised version of CBT is actually being used for, other than to sell you stuff) is that it comes from within, not what you shop for online or in the upmarket stores. (Anyone wishing to convert me with a strong wallet is welcome to try alternate Thursdays.)
Did I mention the wool? In the Age uk shop (Nelson still) I got two glorious skeins of grey wool which will knit up into a Monmouth for autumn use something delightful. Rowan Magpie Tweed, BNWT, originally £5.25, reduced to £3.50 & donated so snaffled by me for £1.99 each ! Will be plying my nostepinne this weekend balling them up & then casting on. (A nostepinne is a lovely thing, and howlingly easily turned - mine started life as an underappreciated rolling pin & was cleaned, shaped & then carefully oiled by my beloved husband, and ignored by me as surplus to my requirements for Months until "Ding!" I realised why it was that way & set to using same.)0 -

I managed to buy a big bag of guest toiletries which was great as we started letting part of our house on Airbnb and booking.com in April this year.
There was 50 bottles of each
Shampoo
Conditioner
Body lotion
Body wash
Bars of guest soaps
Sealed toothbrushes with a small tube of toothpaste.
Sealed combs
Shower caps
They were in an enormous plastic bag for £5.000 -

Disaster has struck today; my trusty Radley messenger bag has finally given up and died on me. I have had it for 8 years and it has lasted through all of my embarrassing phases during my teenage years. Do you reckon it is too optimistic to hope that a similar one might pop up in the charity shop?0
