The iPhone isn’t a rip off if you want iOS. Where else do you get iOS?

Monopoly positions can be, and often are 'rip offs', due to price gouging and a captive customer base.

At any rate, the OP didn't specify iOS as a requirement so I suspect, like most people, they simply want a phone that can do x, y and z adequately and don't really care what journey the phone takes to get there.

It's very difficult to argue against iPhones (and apple products in general) being pricey, especially compared to the more than adequate offerings from the likes of Xiaomi etc.
  • Go and test both phones instore. Technology has pretty much plateaued over the past few years so all phones will have similar features.

I personally wouldn't buy Apple as I have never bought into their whole ecosystem and also like the flexibility Android gives me to do what I want with me phone. Thats just my opinion though, you need to go with what works best for you.
