Where should I live? 7th Oct 19 at 6:26 PM
I am planning a move in the spring but I don't know where to go!

I want to move out of the South East to somewhere that is cheaper and have no ties to anywhere in England.

    Here are the requirements:

It needs to be near the sea/a beach
It needs to be within about 30 mins of a decent sized town or city
    On a rail line
With somewhere (in addition) for decent, long dog walks
Ideally within a few hours of London
And I want a property with a big/reasonable sized garden

Budget is up to a max of about 300,000 for 3+ bedrooms.

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

Judging from similar posts you’ll get a lot of ideas

My suggestions are areas I have lived in or know well, we lived in Devon for 14 years

Exmouth or thereabouts. Fabulous beaches, easy to get to Exeter which has most things including the motorway

Or other side of the Exe Estuary Dawlish or Teignmouth

Both areas have lots of 3 bedroomed houses within your budget and direct trains to Exeter

    Plus, of course, nice weather.

Exmouth would be my suggestion too - close to Exeter where you can join the motorway, a couple of hours or so from London on the train, Exmouth is on the train line and with easy access to loads of countryside including Dartmoor for walking.

It's also not that far to Plymouth.

Scotland. Outside the central belt/Aberdeen you'd manage all of that and then some for that money

To those who have suggested the Exeter/Exmouth area, that was actually at the top of my list so I appreciate the validation of that!

My 18-year-old, though, is worried there will be nothing to do. What is it like for opportunities for young adults and what is the job market like? Thank you!
