A few people have had success by requesting their pac code, in a last ditch attempt by three they receive a phone call... think I read bout someone here being offered all or almost all of their line rental free if they didn't want a new handset

  • Hi Vertical,

I renewed my '3' contract in March after receiving a text saying I could save up to £360. My partner renewed hers in May after Customer Services called and offered an equivalent deal to mine (she'd said that she knew a couple of people who'd got these deals)

My contract is now 'Talk and Text 600' -500 anytime any network minutes and 100 texts. My partner's is the same. The deal is £30 a month with £336 cash applied straight to my account (within the hour), i.e. £24 for the year. (Having told '3' about this my partner got it for £14 for the year).

I have a feeling that once you've given your 30 days notice you have to sit tight and wait for them to call you. When I called them to find out what they'd offer the deal was more expensive than the previous year!. They told me that their deals change on a monthly basis, but from our experience this contract is usually available if you haggle a bit.

This is without an upgrade, but you could probably use your Xda as it's 3G.

    Hope this helps.

Currently on £25 per month, 12 month contract, which is due to expire end of July.

Three have been on to me already and offered me this so far -

    N73 or E65 - 12 month contract - 6 months half price - £29.38 credit to account.

    In effect I will pay nothing for the 1st 2 months - 3rd month @ £8.68 - months 4, 5 and 6 at £12.50 , the £25 for the remainder of the contract.

I couldn't quite gets the figures she quoted for the credit and half price deal to match what I had to actually pay per month. But its not far out.

Overall I will pay just under £16.40 per month over the year.

Offer was refused as I will ring when I can give 30 days notice to end my contract and see what they can offer me then. Offers then certainly won't get any worse thats for sure.

I just renewed my three contract (after being with them for a year) a couple of days ago and was offered several packages which I will detail below (hoping that it will be useful to someone somehow). It seems to be standard offerrings as they are very similar to the offers given above

    All 12 month contracts

    1) Free Nokia 6288 / Sony Ericsson K800i

    a) On VTT 700 price plan - £35 pm - 400 xnet mins, 250 texts, 25 video mins, 25 mms & £5 downloads
    - half price rental for 9months
    - Loyalty discount of £58.70
    - Total annual cost of £203.80 [(£17.5 X 9) + (£35 X 3) - £58.70]
    - Average monthly cost of £16.98

    b) On VTT 350 price plan - £25 pm - 200 xnet mins, 100 texts, 25 video mins, 25 mms & £5 downloads
    - half price rental for 9months
    - Loyalty discount of £58.70
    - Total annual cost of £128.80 [(£12.5 X 9) + (£25 X 3) - £58.70]
    - Average monthly cost of £10.73

    2) Nokia E65 / Sony Ericsson w850i
    a) On VTT 700 price plan - £35 pm - 400 xnet mins, 250 texts, 25 video mins, 25 mms & £5 downloads
    - half price rental for 6 months
    - Loyalty discount of £29.35
    - Total annual cost of £285.65 [(£17.5 X 6) + (£35 X 6) - £29.35]
    - Average monthly cost of £23.80

    b) On VTT 350 price plan - £25 pm - 200 xnet mins, 100 texts, 25 video mins, 25 mms & £5 downloads
    - half price rental for 6 months
    - Loyalty discount of £29.35
    - Total annual cost of £195.65 [(£12.5 X 6) + (£25 X 6) - £29.35]
    - Average monthly cost of £16.30

I am not sure whether the VTT 350 is still available cos it is not listed on their website now. I went for 2) b) - the E65 on the VTT 350 only because I wanted to get the E65 and didnt need so many mins. [BTW - the E65 is a brilliant phone much better than 6288 so it was worth the xtra cost for me]

Note - I have built up all these figures from memory cos only yesterday I threw away the piece of paper on which I had written down the offers. So there might be a few variations from the actual offer (which I very much doubt).

I wish I had asked them for the PAC code and waited for them to call me cos that might have given me a better deal. I tried negotiating a few times for a free bluetooth headset or a micro card even but they said they dont have those offers for retention customers since it is covered by the loyalty discount

Hope all this helps someone !

My contract expires in four days. I have cancelled the contract but had not yet requested a PAC.

Just got a call offering 18 month contract of Video & Talk & Text 700 with the first 17 months free (pay £35 for the last month).

    So monthly cost of £1.94!!!

Of course, this is without a new phone, but a pretty good deal I think!

I phoned Three today however they say that this deal is not available and that it isn't on there system for yesterday.

They offerered me 400 minutes and I think 150 texts although it may have been 250 on £35 a month price plan with a discount of £15. I don't know whether it was 12 or 18 months. It was with a SE Z510 phone.

    Not very impressive:confused:
